He got whackedIt has been years since I’ve talked Sopranos.
Give us your version of what you think took place in that diner in the final episode.
Did Tony get whacked?
Plum Street has it right. Intentionally ambiguous. Left the door open for a return, perhaps in the form of a full length movie. That idea of course died when Gandolfini did.No, chase ended like that so we can debate it forever .
Tony didn’t get whacked, but jimmy did. RIP
Holsten’s diner in Bloomfield is where the final scene took place.I like to think the onion rings triggered intestinal inflammation and a massive gallbladder attack. The ensuing commotion certainly waylaid anyone intent on a nefarious act.
However, while being rushed to Hackensack UMC, the ambulance was T-boned by a Shop Rite Truck full of London Broil - killing all aboard and delaying that week's $1.99 per lb special..........

Read sepinwall. Ask chase. I think it’s been pretty much asked and answered. It is amazing that most of us thought our cable went out. We’re still talking about it almost 15 years later
As David Chase has said numerous times on the record, “Whether Tony Soprano is alive or dead is not the point.” To continue to search for this answer is fruitless. The final scene of THE SOPRANOS raises a spiritual question that has no right or wrong answer.
Wasn't one of our posters a long time friend of James Gandolfini?
And the fact that tony killed him zap....I thought a feature movie was coming, regardless of what Tony’s outcome was.
No character on that show was in line to replace Tony, Christopher would have been logical, but his drug and emotional problems featured in the last year would have discounted him IMO.
****And the fact that tony killed him zap....
Wasn’t the only one left at the end Pauly? Sylvio was in a coma, Bobby dead, Chris dead, ***** dead, April’s both of them dead. Ralphie dead. Steve buscsmis character dead. Jonny saks dead, and the guy who got whacked at the gas station who had the hit out on tony (forgot the characters name he played billy bats also died last year)****
Nope, good burger joint...small but goodI had thought that Holsten's was only an ice cream parlor?
However, while being rushed to Hackensack UMC, the ambulance was....
Holsten’s diner in Bloomfield is where the final scene took place.
He would have been transported to Clara Maass medical center
Definitely killed by the guy in the jacket. No doubt in my mind.
The more interesting question.... Who arranged the hit?
LolZap, how does someone with SoCal in their name have better local info than you?? And isn't Hackensack UMC Mountainside your local hospital?
Clara Maass is ten minutes past UMC from Holsten's.

The poster was Altrev.Wasn't one of our posters a long time friend of James Gandolfini? Anyone remember if he ever gave an (inside) opinion.
It’s quite possible Altrev spoke to James about that scene. The poster was Altrev.
Tony got whacked by the guy in the Members Only jacket coming out of the bathroom (to Tony's right).....I think it was in the Sepinwall article that it was discussed that there was a debate regarding after going to black if there should be credits.....I think David Chase wanted to just go to black for several minutes but was then convinced to put up the credits (of course with no music). It has been years since I’ve talked Sopranos.

The last place you want to go to for a whacking injury is Mountainside...better chance at Clara MaasZap, how does someone with SoCal in their name have better local info than you?? And isn't Hackensack UMC Mountainside your local hospital?

Mountainside is closer and both my kids born there as well. Great hospital for chikd birth but not for a trauma situationLol
My kids were born at Mountainside, it’s five minutes from where I live.
I don’t know anything about it being called Hackensack General.
I thought Clara Maass might have been closer from Holsten’s
