It sucks, but, of course, the kid can go wherever he wants. -Still, it is interesting that in praying to God about their college choice/destination, the good Lord always seems to confirm what the recruit, his parents, and his inner circle want him to do anyway, (and what the prospect fully intends to do regardless of any "divine intervention" received via prayer).
I guess, however, that sounds "deeper" and more thought out than simply saying, "I think I can do better; everybody around me thinks I can do better, so I'm blowin' off my original pledge because, well...I can. -Oh, and no interviews, please, since I don't want to have to answer any questions that might make it seem like, 'ya know, a commitment from me isn't worth a bucket of warm spit ".
Like I said, this young guy can go to whatever university he wants, and the best of luck to him. I just wish every now and again someone who backs off his verbal would simply leave the "divinely inspired" references, (which seem to have become pro forma in these situations), out of the picture.
