Brohm going somewhere?
Nah. Lots of kids from the south dream of coaching in a state with limited talent. I give Purdue credit for hiring him but anyone who didn't know from day 1 this was at best a two year rental doesn't watch college football. He wasn't even their first choice and probably for that reason.

Can you blame him? Our offense didn't complete a pass to s wide receiver a few weeks ago and last week threw just 10 passes. Who wants to play in that offense? Star freshman Bo Melton has 1 catch all season. Complete waste.

Ash needs to figure the offense out quicker or he will lose complete control of the narrative with recruits (if that already hadn't happened6.

...and no one who threw a pass will be throwing the ball to him when he really becomes College Ready.

Bobinski wanted Brohm at Purdue. When Bobinski fired Darrell Hazell six games into the 2016 season, Brohm’s name was at the top of his list. His research would confirm his initial feeling: Brohm was the right fit at Purdue.

He was the top choice and while he may leave eventually some of the jobs being thrown out there aren't much of a jump. If you're about 8 years old you may think the Purdue job is the worst in the conference but it's not the conference doormat historically. Coaches have won there. Just being in the West division makes the situation better than those trying to climb the ladder in the East.

I'm not 8 and I'm not saying it's anywhere near the worst job in the Big or that it's even a bad job. I'm simply stating you have a southern kid who including this year, has spent exactly 2 years not in the south. Add to that, it's not an easy place to recruit and it's not a state with lots of talent. Regarding Brohm, you can believe what you read. I'll believe the text that was sent to me from a college coach letting certain people know he had accepted the the Purdue job. Had the little train emoji and all. Lol

Purdue is reported to be paying Jeff Brohm $3,500,000
Tennessee is reported to be paying Butch Jones $4,400,000

Jeff Brohm is 46 years old - has managed to take the parts / raw materials that were left in inventory (and added some pieces) at Purdue and make them operate better than many expected - and that has garnered attention because many thought that the cupboard was not very well stocked.

Maybe it is Jeff Brohm's dream to make this his life's work & restore Purdue to the Cradle of Quarterbacks glory days of Len Dawson, Bob Griese, Drew Brees, and so on .... but most doubt that ... he is likely to move on to another program with more resources -

Would Brohm jump if Tennessee put the offer at an even $5 million - with other incentives? would Brohm feel that the current Tennessee 'cupboard' has much more in it than Purdue did - or now does?

who knows - but it does seem that Tennessee has Brohm on their radar screen.

Again, does anyone see this profound improvement over Kyle Floods recruiting classes? Not looking to flame here just asking an honest question because I do not see an improvement.

He'd probably jump to Tennessee for equal money. I'm sure he'd have a lot more for assistant salaries there than at Purdue as well

Brohm was Purdue's first choice. Wasn't Fleck, Les Miles, or anyone else.
Ok. I just find it odd that a college coach would send out a text telling HS coaches to get their kids ready BC the Purdue train is coming to NJ. If in fact, he didn't accept the job as he stated. Maybe he's friends with Brohm and wanted to help him recruit.

According to Todderick:

"Rutgers put forth a strong effort in its 35-24 win over Illinois on Saturday. But in the end, it wasn't enough to secure N.Y.'s most dynamic recruit, as Purdue, among others, appear to be coming on strong down the stretch.
Maryland was originally thought to be a leader for his services along with Rutgers, but Anderson trended away from the Terps as his decision neared. "

Don't want to sound like I am ripping on this particular kid, but it is absolutely short-sighted and not smart to make your decision by living in the moment of the current W-L record or recent game performance of a team. Coaches come and go, and teams can be trending upward even though not currently winning or playing their best football. He listed Academics, Athletics and Atmosphere. He can have all three here. What kind of Atmosphere does Purdue have other than a Big Drum. Have fun in West Lafayette, Indiana. Sounds like a great place for a kid from NYC.

Well I don't buy the southern boy stuff. Brohm is from Louisville. It's not like Purdue is in Alaska. Less than 3 hour drive between the two and the culture in Louisville seems more Cincinnati/Indianapolis from my times there than it does Nashville/Atlanta.

Other than that, you're correct that the Purdue job does present some challenges. Some of those are fixable and some of them are already fixed or in the process of being fixed. The Purdue job is never going to be Michigan or Ohio State. We know that. But a good coach with an exciting offense can get the players to win there.

Brohm may have some goals that prompts him to move on when a given opportunity presents itself but I think such opportunities are fewer than what current speculation seems to be. We'll see what comes to fruition.

You make the call:

Year 4* 3* 2* 0*
2017 3 14 9
2016 0 10 7 1
2015 1 14 10
2014 0 15 10 1
2013 1 16 5

The 2015 4* transferred and the 2013 4* was indicted.

It's all speculation.

Maybe he covets the Tennessee job. Maybe he looks at it and thinks it's a tough spot to win in and thinks he'd be smarter to wait until another certain job would become available.

Maybe Tennessee offers 4.5 million. Maybe Purdue matches. Maybe they offer 6 million a year and Purdue has to let him go. Maybe Tennessee wants someone else altogether. Maybe other programs want him more.

Could sit and speculate on this all day. I personally find it hard to believe that he could command a 6 million dollar salary (roughly top 5 in the country) at this point but you never know. As it is, he's in the top 25 salaries which seems competitive and Purdue could probably go a bit higher if it makes sense.

The cancer here by several people absolutely stinks. It's posts like this that totally rationalizes a recruits choice to decommit. Why don't some of you guys just contact the player directly and tell him not to come in the first place. It would save is all a lot of anguish. I am sure the staff will continue to recruit him right up until signing day but some of these posts certainly do not help the cause. Thanks for nothing!

I love the, "please respect my decision" . I just wonder which decision - the one to commit or the one to decommit.

It also baffles my mind that some Rutgers fans say that the player is too good for Rutgers and they should go to another school. I think that some fans on this board love to hate themselves.

After watching our offense, a wide receiver decides RU is not for him. What a surprise.

Ridiculous post. I know both Anderson and Lacewell. I can assure you they could care less about this board as it relates to their college decision.

Receivers want a clear path to the next level doing what they do best. Receiving passes. We are not on that flight path. There will be more of this whether we like it or not.We have had plenty of fan decommitments too We live in a hole we have built for ourselves. Deal with it..

I'm verbally committed to Kate Upton, but if I get any other interest, I may have to re-open my commitment........
