WOW

Wonder what goes.

Former players (especially NFL players) are always welcomed back at Pitt.

Aaron Donald returns often and was just here in the past couple of weeks.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!
This is about Steve wanting to participate in the Pro Day. Not a visit back to campus. I highly doubt Donald who is in the NFL came back to participate in a Pro Day. By the way Steve's not eligible to participate, since he's not eligible to be drafted.

Yup that's how I read it also. Finally someone posting clarification on the subject. Steve can ***** all he wants, but he's not eligible to participate. He can drive that 45 mins. back and watch if he'd like. He's way out of line and should read the rules his former employer has put in place.

He should move on with his life and enter the real world. Having a meltdown, calling out coaches and threatening to sue without knowing the rules makes him look completely foolish. Move on, it's over. I hate this stuff from ex-players.

"Rutgers died when the Chop era ended" sorry Steve. I don't care if I graduated and the whole campus burnt down and they rebuilt it. Rutgers no matter what happens is a part of me regardless of the people who are in it in the future or what mistakes they may make. Even if this was a bad mistake by someone in athletics, then this is how you react? Maybe there's more to the reason he wasn't allowed back in.

Unless the NFL has changed it's rules then this is incorrect. Holy Spirit (NJ) alum William Green was a 1st round draft pick in 2002 and played 4 years for the Cleveland Browns. He attempted a comeback in 2008 and participated at his alma mater Boston College's pro day that year.

college football programs hold their pro days for 2017 draft-eligible prospects
If you have filed income taxes showing earnings from an NFL team ....
If you are in the pictures below ...you are not draft-eligible

The bit on the income tax and tying that to being ineligible to come to pro day...did you just make that all up yourself? Pictures were a nice touch. Excellent use of font and bold effects as well!

This is why i dont come to this sight for medical advice".....

This is mixing up the rules for entering the NFL draft with the rules of Pro day. Nowhere does it say Pro Day is just limited to Draft eligible players. I believe Nova participated in Pro Day last year.

I was replying to a poster who said the Pro Day was only for 2017 draft eligible players

Why is Paul James in pro day if he isn't eligible to be drafted?

Players who want another chance at the NFL participate in these all the time. There is no rule preventing Steve B from doing so

Correct. Much more damage to back out of an agreement with a Conference partner then to play 1 game off campus, however.

What ?
Better to piss off thousands of your loyal, season ticket holders who fund the Program ?

Honestly the posts on here by some are mind boggling.

The only draft eligible players can participate in Pro Day is not a rule. Gary Nova participated in Pro day last year. I clicked on the link and nowhere does it say that. He's taking the rules for entering the draft and applying it to Pro day out of context.

Why wou
maybe this goes with not allowing past players to stand on sidelines any longer..?
starting to think we should have hired PJ Fleck..
why in the world would they not let former players stand on the sidelines? What is the gain?

Wait...

Past players aren't welcome on the sidelines?

That's bad juju. We already have a very major problem around past players not supporting the program, financially. We don't need to further alienate them.

this past season no one was allowed on the sidelines starting from 20 minutes before kick off...unless you were very VIP i.e. the Garuttis. They also allow current NFL players on the sidelines. Letter winners are now up in the recruiting lounge and on the recruiting lounge deck during the games.

per our good friend @huskersalways keeping extra people off of the sidelines is a B1G thing.

I know first hand from past players from the Burns era that Dick Anderson did the same thing during his run as head coach -Past players were just no longer welcomed - It took years (and ultimately Schiano policies) before some of those guys got back in the fold. This needs immediate attention from Hobbs/Ash.
Anderson probably got that from Joe Pa, who didn't want former players around.

Steve has always been a bit full of himself - he carried the "I'm a football player I'm special" persona through college. If you can get by that part than he's a decent guy. Not very book smart though - maybe came back to bite him here? Will be interested in hearing more but as far as a possible news story this is really nothing to write home about coverage isnt warranted.

- several posters who seem to have done their homework are stating that Stevie B was NOT eligible to particpate

- one guy who has started posting a lot, recently, and never seems to be right about anything is making it his job to tell everybody they're wrong and Stevie is right

...this could get interesting!

(BTW - don't you have to let the school know you're coming for one of these? Something doesn't sound right here IMHO)

There is no prohibition against anyone participating in a pro day. It's an invitation by the school to have scouts come to see players. It's no different than scouts going to see a potential player at a local HS, park, etc.

Actually I think it's the NCAA cracking down on sideline guests. They started putting some limits after the Reggie Bush/USC stuff.
