Iv'e been screaming about the SIZE of our LB's for 4 years now. We are simply too small at LB. Need 6'3"+ monsters out there in this conference. 5'11" to 6'1" guys ain't cutting it (which is why I didn't think the Florida kid who quit was going to be any good here...).

Pollock was undersized but considering how much the D plays, having another body keeps the D from being gassed all the time.

Have you ever played this friggin game? A screen pass is set up at a certain point on the field. It's designed to be a timing play. They don't just go where ever they feel like.

so now our running backs that were even good under flood aren't good enough ? ya right....

When Carroo missed all of those games our RBs looked remarkably average - and we still had Grant at the time but didn't use him properly because last year's wonderful OC insisted on running double TE sets. Teams loaded the box and Flood and Co insisted on running into 9 man fronts. Remember that? There was a stretch where we failed to run the ball effectively last year even with double TE sets and a lead fullback at other times.

Some of this is on coaching. A lot of it is due to the lack of talented players. When you can't beat the guy lined up in front of you, that is largely a talent issue. There is only so much a coach can do.

Ash and Mehringer are overmatched because of the talent they have on offense and both are learning on the job, which makes it hard to figure out how to make them competitive against a program like MSU , even if that program is having a down year. RU should at-least be a little competitive instead of being blown out against the Spartans and that's on Ash as well as the talent on the roster.

I won't knock Ash or Mehringer for their coaching this season because both are learning on the job, also won't claim they will be good ones in the future, because of the way they have RU FB playing this year
They have their Mulligans, but don't deserve excuses for how terrible RU looks most games now.
Yes the talent has a lot to do with it, I'm hoping inexperience is causing the rest.
