No, it's called Highway ...errrrr Parking Lot robbery.

No way to build a fanbase for the casual CFB fan looking for a team to root for.

Also impossible to build a fanbase when everything is being complained about (parking prices, alma mater, horse video, dj, loudness, etc.)

We have a fanbase that complains about everything. Must be a Jersey thing.

The people here on this site are far from casual fans, and Johnson Park is not the Casual Fan Lot.

Don't blame them really, 30 bucks felt like robbery when you have a solid group of people you tailgate with that chip in. Grass lot 100 feet from the stadium? 45 might even still be cheap to be honest.

Why does the casual fan need to park directly across the street from the stadium? Can't they park at the RAC?

Because casual fans don't want to park miles away for a game/team they care about only casually.

Can you please give me an example of any professional or big time college team that reserves parking immediately next to the stadium at an artificially suppressed cost for "casual fans"? I'll wait...

RU get any of that $$$?

I don't think so. Which is another reason that Rutgers fans should park in Rutgers lots at the med school, College Ave, or the RAC.

Quite honestly, I think the med school lots are a great deal. $20 and a 20 minute walk to the stadium that takes you past some of the best tailgating at Rutgers.

Very underrated lot. I liked it much better than Purple when I was bumped for a year from Blue. It was a great deal then. So while disappointed, not surprised of the markup now.

Name one other college venue where the casual fan pays less than those who donate hundreds of dollars for the top level of premium parking? $45 is the deal of the century to park so close to the stadium.

I'm not talking about other college programs and really don't care if they pay less than self-important donors of top levels of premium parking. I'm looking at it through the lens of a casual fan who wants to go to a game or two without paying through the nose to park, trudging miles or fighting for a spot on an overcrowded bus.

As I said in the last thread, if they can get it, good for them. If not, it's not hard to see why. The diehard fans are in RU lots and casual fans might opt to stay home versus that.

BTW, aren't some of you guys the same ones that get chafed when the stadium isn't full or people aren't doing selfies in their seats 10 minutes before kickoff?

Tough thing is this is no guarantee for Middlesex County because of the weather.

Our grass lots do not close. Rutgers has already got that money in hand and spent.

If I could be guaranteed a spot in Johnson Park for $45 every game, I'd take that is a heartbeat over the donations/cost of a blue lot ticket. Where do I sign up? Hell, if I could get a season pass there for $100 a game I would take that. My freaking donation required for the Blue lot is $71 a game.

15 minutes before the game there were still spots open. The price is crazy, but compared to other lots near the stadium it's not uniquely crazy. It's actually a nice place to be before and after a game, and easy to get in and out of.

So when you add in the cost of the actual pass it's $111. Minimum. It's likely higher cost than that for a decent portion of those in Blue and Blue is a 5 minute walk vs a 30 second walk in Johnson Park.

This thread has demonstrated that many don't appreciate basic economics.

Does anyone know what the St. Georges church on River Rd. charges for parking?

To compare economics:
The minimum donation amount to park in the scarlet and green parking lots is $2500.... add in the parking pass cost and our cost basis is $407 per game to park in a lot with a similar walk into the stadium as parking in Johnson park in front of the stadium. $45 to park is a bargain. I'd stop complaining and get there early enough for the B1G games to get in. Because you know when the Michigan & Penn State fans come, they will pay the freight without even blinking an eyelid and think how great it is to park near the stadium.

As others have mentioned, there are cheaper alternatives. Look around but prepare for a longer walk in.

Also doesn't help that we Rutgers fans direct visiting fans to park there. Send them to the RAC lol

Johnson Park is a great place to park. Over the last 3 years we have used it occasionally or have told friends or the opposing team fans to use it. The reality is last year the lot was full for some games a little over 3 hours before kickoff for conference games. If you are getting there 3 and a half to 4 hours before game time you are good. I got there last year at 9:05 and was in the last row and 5 minutes later the lot was full.

Not to mention if you're going with a full car and split it evenly it's $10 a person. Only one or two people are footing donations and parking pass costs.

I used to park for free at the Nichols apartments (northwest corner of Bush campus) and walk the 20-25 min to the stadium. I assume you can still do that.

I'm glad they are doing this! I donate good money to park in the lots and people avoiding that only hurt the school so collect $$ where you can to upgrade our program

Can you still do this ? I think they have signs Rutgers permit at all times or you get towed

one of the people from our group parked in someones driveway right by stadium (i think on or by river rd) for $25, so there are options out there for cheaper if someone really doesnt want to pay the 45.
If you threw them an extra $10 will they let you tailgate in their living room?:pimp:

I've drank beer with them in the yard, and they let me use their house to use the toilet. It did look like an abandoned crack house inside however. 5 minute walk to the Scarlet walk. At first after being in the bathroom for like 10 minutes I thought I might be setting myself up to get robbed, then they come in and yell through the door 'what the heck you doing in there? I reply 'using the bathroom , what do you think ?" At that point I then realize they thinkI am using drugs in there and planning on robbing them.
Not bad for $20 .

Is an abandoned crack house worse or better than an occupied crack house?

It's Supply and Demand you Commies. o_O

What exactly do you think we should be paying for un-reserved parking 200 feet from the main entrance to a B1G stadium?

Surprisingly, some of the Ayn Rand crowd around here seem to have a problem with capitalism in action, lol...
