Johnson park is now $45 for parking, last year it was $30. The guy at the gate said its the parks commission who comes up with the price. It costs less to park at Met Life!

It's a premium location. That demands a premium pricing. As far as accessibility to the stadium it is probably on par with the Scarlet lot. As far as ease of entering and exiting it is by far better than most alternatives. I do not see the problem with the price. If I was a Scarlet lot tag holder I would probably be a little upset that Johnson was so cheap.

Gotta pay the unnecessary MCSO their OT somehow I guess. Between, the RUPD, NBPD, PPD, HPPD, NJSP and the stadium security, HPSS has got to be the safest place in the state on those 7 Saturdays.

Supply and Demand will determine if it will stay. If enough people stop parking in the park because it is $15-$25 more than other lots then they will need to lower the price. If people still want to park in Johnson and pay $45 then it will not change.

They'll never lower the price. Never.

Exactly. Boycott Johnson and park elsewhere. $45 is a ripoff.

I am curious if the lot was crowded? My gut feeling is that many of the visiting Big 10 team fans will still park there due to the convenience of the lot.

It is insane...

I agree it's high, but there are plenty of ticket holders that are paying between $40 and $50 plus huge donations to park in the red, gree, yellow and blue and those lots are over subscribed; and Johnson park is just as close. It's economics; supply and demand. Parking not too long ago was $20-$30 per game in the RU lots and they doubled the price and people were still getting bumped down from red to green, green to yellow and yellow to blue etc. For 7 days a year, many are willing to pay for convenience. There are a lot of less desirable things that people spend their money on, like a crappy $100 meal for a family of four at Red Lobster and Olive Garden. And by the way, those places are packed.

I'm not sure how many cars that lot holds, but lets say 500 cars.

500 x $ 30 (last years price) = $15,000

Middlesex county could go down to 333 cars before they start losing money . (333 x $45= $14,985).

Anyone know how many cars Johnson Park holds ? I'm guessing for Penn St and Michigan they won't have a problem filling it up at $45.

It fills up most games, even for a 2nd tier B1G game. I am pretty sure Howard was fill or almost filled. I think 500 cars is high, i would guess more like 250

Plenty of other parking options. Zero problem with it, if they can get the $$$ go for it. Greek Church, Riverview, etc. lower and just as close

If before the season they offered season long parking passes to JP at a cost of $315 and it required no donation the lot would have a waiting list. That's cheaper than the Scarlet and Green lots and carries no donation.

I get that $45 per game seems really high but the rest us with parking passes already pay that much and I don't recall too much chatter about the cost of the RU parking passes.

The visiting fans will jump at the opportunity to park there for only $45.

Since I won't be parking there, I think they should round up to $50 for parking in Johnson's park. This is big time football and Johnson's is the VIP of parking. If 200 cars park there, that is only $10,000 a game which barely pays for a bag of feed for the zoo animals.

Park in another lot if you don't like it. If you want a grassy location with access to real bathroom facilities with direct access to River Road, Landing Lane, and 18, and 30 yards from the entrance, you're going to pay for that privilege. If parking at UMDNJ Lot A costs $20 and all you get is a concrete spot with portajohns and a mile+ walk, with a one lane road access to Hoes Lane, I'd say Johnson Park is what it is.

Not that crazy. The lot is RIGHT there by stadium.

With mandatory donation, RU has farther lots from stadium at the same price, if not more.

one of the people from our group parked in someones driveway right by stadium (i think on or by river rd) for $25, so there are options out there for cheaper if someone really doesnt want to pay the 45.

Seems like a fair price. No season long commitment, no contribution, and prices to part on nearby campus lots are high too, so I say go for it!

Quick glance at eBay shows that Scarlet passes for the UNM game are selling for around $50. Imagine what they will sell for when we get into the heart of the B1G schedule. Looks like they are charging at or below FMV for parking 100 yards from the stadium entrance.

No, it's called Highway ...errrrr Parking Lot robbery.

No way to build a fanbase for the casual CFB fan looking for a team to root for.
What lot are you in and what do you think you are paying per game? I see Johnson Park being one of, if not the cheapest alternative for premium parking.

Nothing wrong with the price, in my mind. Premium parking, no donation or season commitment required.

Maybe it'll push people unwilling to walk too far to park at the RAC - which is more money in Rutgers' coffers.

People will either park there, or they won't.... somehow I think people will ***** about the price, but still fork it over, so nothing will change. If Johnson Park were empty for the start of the Michigan game, they'd be forced to lower their prices... but that will never happen.

It's like airlines... people like to ***** about service, but terrible service does nothing to change ticket buying patterns (people buy based on price, not on service). Parking is about proximity... there will always be people who will pay the higher price to get closer. If it's visiting fans bringing money into the state, all the better.

Big time football.
I emailed the atlethics department to raise the mandatory minimum donation on all seats if they expect to get to the 100 million BIG Fund and threads like this and the water price thread and the food price thread show me it's the right move. The bulk of the fanbase does not understand or care to understand that it requires $$$$ to compete in big time football. We play against the top dogs but a bunch of the die hards or so called do not care that we need every dime we can get. I also suggested 50-50 every game hat goes directly to the BUILD fund and beer sales to raise money. There is no other way with this kind of fan base.

If people don't mind walking a bit, there is no need to pay for parking. Park on the far end of Johnson Park or in Donaldson Park. Park in New Brunswick for FREE on the street or for a small charge in one of the parking garages and walk over to the FREE shuttle buses.
