The Elizabeth players are pissed and considering transferring apparently. Quinn was a good coach. I don't know what happened here though.
Transfer? From a public school? Is that even allowed?
Things sure have changed since I was in HS and the football team was just random students.
Correction - if you have a bona fide change of address (move/rent/lease, custody change, etc..) into that new school district, no need to sit that first month of the season.Lol of course it's allowed. They need a place to live in the town, that's it. Then sit 30 days.
Letting Quinn go because of wanting someone with deep roots in the community seems strange since he was there since 2010 and that should have planted some roots.
Guess living in Elizabeth is a qualification he doesn't have and that cost him his position.
Sounds petty to me , unless there's something that isn't being said that caused him to be passed over despite his record as HC.
It was Roxbury...He did a great job at Randolph and then went to New Brunswick which had hit the skids for years and has the same demographic as Elizabeth and sent guys to D1 and the pros in a short period of time. As far as I am concerned he is the best public school coach in the state.
Quinn was 47-18 at Elizabeth after taking over a losing program before being unanimously voted by the Board of Ed to be replaced by Jackson.
Could there be a racial aspect to this change ?

+1He and his brother Malik were solid players and good gets for Graber.
" Quinn didn’t want to leave. He had great success, going 47-18 in six seasons and leading the Minutemen to three championship games and the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5 title in 2012. But the job was posted and interviews were conducted — and on July 21, the Elizabeth Board of Education voted in to replace Quinn and make Jamil Jackson the new football coach. "

Article states the vote from EBOE was unanimous. That takes this beyond simple politics as there are still 3 remaining board members from the group of sleezeballs that used to control Elizabeth's schools hanging around. Those three's function the last 8 months has been to be a thorn in the side of the majority. If they were also on board with change something else is up here.
Wow! This smells like ugly politics by the EBOE. I wonder if any of the EBOE board members are related or grew up with Mr. Jackson? According to the article he does not reside in Elizabeth. Another comment states he will be commuting from Willingboro? I'm sorry, but Quinn should not have been let go and replaced by someone with no head coaching experience. Especially at a program like Elizabeth." Quinn didn’t want to leave.
