So you're going with an assumption that your assumption is more likely than those of others? Yeah, okay, got it!
The important difference being that I provided a rationale for my position other than just putting stuff out there with no back up. You just can't read Zags detailed analysis of all the wonderfulness of Hurley and what all he would bring with him without thinking that this was a plant by Hurley's agent. And then all the "an assistant coach" said X, Y, and Z without specifying where that coach was from.

Is it reading tea leaves? Absolutely. But even tea leaves are more than simply pulling something out.

Some of us need time to shift into "Great hire on Hurley!" mode. We'll get there, but the "it's done," "it's not done" back and forth can be a bit dizzying.

So....I'm going to go teach a class on behaviourism, and when I come back, I want this all wrapped up one way or the other!

Quickly doesn't mean within hours folks.....as new coaches come on the market like Trent Johnson and Johnny Dawkins, you may have to find out facts there as well.

So this thread was essentially, well, unnecessary and whatever you heard this morning really was nowhere close to being as official as it may have seemed at the time. The beat goes on a little longer I guess, which is fine with me because, quite honestly, I don't want it to go too quickly and someone just be "handed" the position. [cheers]

I trust Hobbs and if he takes a similar process in hiring a basketball coach as he did with the football coach, does he get help from outside firm to vet all the candidates and give him the top 3 to choose from? If he went that route, isn't there a possibility that a candidate may emerge that no one here suspected? I trust Hobbs, he knows what he's doing and I'm sure it's going to be a home run hire! There is no reason to think otherwise from his track record.

at no point was it ever official, so not sure where progressing quickly means within hours or official....if it was or is official, I'm certainly not the person to announce that to the public free world.

People are asking if there are any updates that can be shared and that's part of what it posted here. I enjoy the coaching merry-go-round more than the regular season at times, it is just something I see an interesting.....these decisions really shape programs more than recruiting....the right coaching hire or how candidates emerge is what I see as where AD's earn their money as well. Hobbs will be classified or judged more on this hire than Ash, which was a pretty easy or good hire so far. This one has to be done right, period.....he can't cut corners, so if that means he takes a little longer than what he mentioned as likely being done this week, then it's his right to do so.

Fail of a thread. Almost as bad as when the OP thought there was a conspiracy theory to suspend Sanders to get EJ fired.

Hobbs has said himself he wants to get this done quickly so this isn't news.

Heck just about anything posted about the RU MBB coaching search brings out more than 3 pages of these type of posters:
"Clowns to the left of me,
Joker's to the right,
Here I am Stuck in the middle with you
Yes I'm, Stuck in the middle with you"
( credit edit :Stuck In The Middle With You - Stealers Wheel )

Lucky we're normal [roll]

not sure why Hawk is taking any flack here...he posted info about 10 hours ago, its the people on the board who are impatient...there are no time limits here, I dont why people expect info to come out every hour and if it doesnt its bad information. Relax and let the process take hold

I do not agree that Ash was an easy hire. His name was not a major part of the speculation before he was announced. I do think Ash was a very good hire and expect him to do well here.

I also don't think Hobbs will be judged more on this hire than Ash. It would be hard to hire someone who will do worse than we were doing under Jordan, and we have that darn 25 year streak. If Hobbs picks a guy that breaks the streak within four seasons, sure, that wI'll be Hobbs' crown jewel. If it is four years of mediocrity and we are trying again, I don't think that makes Hobbs a failed AD if Ash has us in New Year's bowls.

"VERY QUICKLY IN FACT"...

....when the case seems to be that while they are moving, but moving at a more realistic pace - and will get done hopefully sometime this week - which Hobbs has clearly stated already. Hawk's words at noon today got everyone - myself included - ready to move on to the Danny Hurley era (based on a few other posts in this thread as well...) and expect an announcement to be essentially imminent. Again, not the end of the world, but I have enough anxiety in my life right now LOL!

very quickly can just mean negotiations are going well, does not mean the have signed a deal. Thank god the real world moves slower than the social media world

I agree, I have NO desire for the search to be done THIS quickly, but stop making excuses for Hawk. He's a grown man, he can defend himself, thanks!

One has to have serious Rutgers-induced ADD to believe that moving quickly equates to same-day settlement.

Hence my point that we all already knew that Hobbs WANTS this to "move quickly." Knowing that - a comment made publicly - Hawk starting this thread, IMHO, meant that things were imminent and we'd be finding something out today. Again, NOT something I'd want, but that seems to have been the take that many here got from it.

If this gets done in the next 48-72 hours, then Pat Hobbs is showing in a little over 100 days, that he is BY FAR the best AD this school of ours has ever had.
That would be a way premature judgment. Before we anoint Dobbs as the saviour, let's see how the football and basketball hirings pan out.

What exactly was the info he brought to the table? Thread was unnecessary without any real details.

You hadn't heard? Excellent rates on a term policy.
Also Rutgers might need to buy insurance to cover a bad hire buyout and an broker might be consulted before contract is signed .
Or just someone who knows the basketball scene a little better than most of us posting here .

After reading his coaching choices I would not hire him.

Hawk,
Thank you for posting and continue to share any insights. To those complaining, its not Hawks fault that you sat in front of your computer/iPad/phone all day refreshing the page. Like everything in life, this situation is fluid and can change without notice. He's sharing what he heard.

I teach a course called "How People Learn" and we do about two weeks on behaviourism. About two thirds of the class are training to become elementary teachers and they will use a lot of behavioural techniques (whether they realize they are doing it or not), especially in classroom management and work with special needs kids. Nobody else covers it in our training program, so I include it in the course. But, I focus more on information processing and cognitive approaches.
