If this gets done in the next 48-72 hours, then Pat Hobbs is showing in a little over 100 days, that he is BY FAR the best AD this school of ours has ever had.
Maybe we should wait to see how these coaching hires actually perform before we start throwing around such things. I like the Ash hire but he hasn't even coached a game yet. We don't even know who the next basketball coach is yet. Now it certainly would show that he is focused and acts quickly but that doesn't mean anything until we see results.

if it is Hurley, is there anyone on their current team or who has committed to play for URI in the fall that could or would "follow" Hurley to RU (could help speed things up)

Your faith in him is breathtaking.

After the way he swiftly replaced one coach (Flood) with a great hire....and should he succeed in doing the same several weeks later for hoops, then yes, he will deserve to be called our best ever.

Feel free to take your own advice. I have no problem with that. It's just my opinion, and I firmly believe it.

From what I could find:

'16 NJ PF Cyril Langevine (URI Signed NLI)
'16 MD C Michael Tertsea (URI Signed NLI)
'16 DC PG Jeff Dowtin (URI Signed NLI)
'16 Louisiana PF Mike Layssard Jr. (URI Signed NLI)

And how would sitting out a year help in speeding things up??????

I read only the St Pat players signed - the other three are verbals

My bad, I didn't realize they signed, but I believe they can be released if there is a coaching change.
I believe schools are allowed to place restrictions on these types of releases just like they would with players already on the roster. If that's the case, I highly doubt URI allows them a release to follow Hurley.

I do find it a bit funny that it seems some of our fans think Hurley is trying to convince us he is the right guy for the RU HC job rather than Rutgers trying to convince Hurley that the Rutgers job is worth his talents.

It's the latter by the way.

that avatar is classic......there are hurdles, but nothing out of the ordinary....Barring a change of course, this should be done very soon....

And as a poster whose opinion is largely respected . . . would you be happy with this result?

If Hurley has to be dragged kicking and screaming into this job, nobody has told his agent that. The story plants from day one have been a steady Hurley drum beat. If this is going to be wrapped up really soon, that would also argue that Rhody wasn't given a chance to seriously counteroffer.

So unless somebody can say, "Listen, I was there at the discussions with Hurley, and I heard...." I'm going with the notion that this was probably somewhere around 50/50 in terms of interest.

And the next coach up should this fall through has a CV that looks just as good as Hurley's to a lot of folks.

Don't know about anyone else but I am getting those typical RU feelings that Hurley isn't happening or is in the process of falling through.

I have no info just something in my gut...probably from the years of being an RU fan

You're being extremely impatient. EJ was fired 4 days ago.

So you're going with an assumption that your assumption is more likely than those of others? Yeah, okay, got it!
