Pretty safe to say that football is integral to the culture of the South. Do UT fans and SEC fans in general have much of an opinion on the recent findings of research on the concussive brain injuries among NFL players? How is the issue being received by fans?
My personal feeling is that it offers substantial proof that sustained exposure to the sport incurs a high risk of brain damage. In other words, it beats your brain up pretty badly. I think it is very real.
Part of me thinks an earthquake will hit the NFL, but it will take about a decade. The other part thinks that there is SO much money at stake, there will always be a Faustian bargain in play.
