Some people work chief. You should get back to selling used cars. Looks like you are strokin' out again...trying to break WVU82's record for most consecutive posts w/out a response. Oh...now you'll have to start all over.

No it gets boring watching you constantly run away from simple questions and you're correct....I do have to get back to work. Matter of fact I have an appointment with lease customer. Wonder if he thinks he'll sign our lease agreement thinking it won't cost him anything? 😏

Diversity in today's world is not referring to anything other than the division of the people based on race, gender, etc. No one is talking about diversity of educations, experience and the like. Pretending that is what is meant by "diversity" is nonsense.
I can tell you, in my company, that is not the case. We view and analyze diversity through a lot of factors, but race isn’t one of them. We specifically conduct our interviews off camera so as to not allow race or age to play a factor.
I'm pure meritocracy all the way. Why do I care if the landscaper who services my house served in the military or has a college degree? If he can get the job done properly and efficiently, I don't care about any other extrinsic characteristics about him.
Maybe we’re applying things differently. I’m talking about building out a team of 100-200 people which I have. I want diversity of age, background, life experience, education etc. I find you get many different perspectives which help inform a better strategy and ultimately a better product. Applying meritocracy to the end state product and getting the best one out there, I prefer to take my approach.
And "diversity within the constructs of a meritocracy" is a contradictory concept. If you aren't hiring purely based on merit, it isn't a meritocracy. The instant a notion that is not based on merit creeps into the selection process, it is no longer a meritocracy
It isn’t a contradictory concept. Through the lens you view meritocracy, it is. I try to build my teams and establish my meritocracy to incorporate a broad range of perspective and thought. If it were a strict meritocracy, then you’d have nothing but extremely experienced people and would be extremely top heavy. By nature of experience it would set you above someone with less experience. So, you have to frame your needs and balance which will enable the construct of meritocracy through how we approach problems. If you lived truly by your own standards, heads up against someone with similar experience, them going through one of the top 5 law schools, you’d lose.

Agreed. I had to hold my nose to vote for Biden. Personally, I just felt like even though I don't agree w/ Biden on many social issues (trans, etc), I couldn't vote for Trump, because he was more of a danger. I could be wrong. But the point is, I'd vote for whoever I thought was better for the country...Dem or Rep.

I agree Dems are being co-opted by all this radical social agenda stuff. I think its downright stupid how 3% of the population (trans) holds so much sway. But I don't think that is nearly as dangerous as another Trump presidency and his Big Lie BS. Hopefully the Reps fine someone else other than Trump and the Dems don't role out Biden again, but I bet we'll end up w/ a rerun of the last election. And as long as the Reps don't opt for Matt Gaetz, MTG, or the like I'll probably vote for the Rep if they are running against Biden.
I agreed with a lot of Trump policies way more than Biden....way .
I just can't vote for any Democrat who won't stand up against this woke mob . Won't stand up against everyone being called racist. This new Democrat party has been taken completely over by socialists. Would love a old school Democrat like jfk . I liked many of pervy bill Clinton and voted for him . I used to vote for Manchin.

That's probably 90% of the school. Good luck with that.

University of Pittsburgh’s LGBTQ task force makes demands, including trans-inclusive healthcare and housing

The task force’s demands come in conjunction with a call to organize a "walk-out" on campus

Experience is part of merit. Age, among others characteristics you listed, is not.

Which is the better lawyer, a 27 year old or a 47 year old? Impossible to say. Why? Because age is irrelevant (until one reaches the elderly stages of course). Accordingly, allowing age to influence the hiring process is not a meritocracy.

And I'm not sure what I would lose at. The more experience a person has, the less their academic achievements matter. With a staff of 100-200 people, you should know that. But that said, I'd put my academic achievements up against anyone. And I say that practicing in a state that has more top tier law schools than almost any other.

See, I said experience, and you translated that to age. And we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this topic, though I’m not a 100% sure we even disagree.

I agree that on broad society, when diversity is discussed, it’s typically race based. My point here is, why are you letting broader society dictate your definition and application of diversity. I do not. I refuse to play by the rules or in the game they’re trying to frame. I manage to do it with a high functioning team.

My Step-Daughter is a head hunter for executive positions in Florida, mostly CFO's, Accounting, etc., . The firm she works for are focusing squarely on minority, women and alphabet soup (LBGT) candidates and have partnered with firms that focus on those groups. They're doing so because most all of the companies that they work for are solely looking for those types of candidates.

Religious zealot. A person who has ruined religion by using it for his own personal gain and to make him seem like (s)he's better than non-religious people.

👆

She's not talking about that. Sure those types exist. Sometimes online they are fake accounts to emphasize it. So you will hate religious people.

She's actually talking about all Christians. Comparing the two is Propaganda.

I think age is a factor in one sense. The lower the age the more education will create a potential and the older the employee the less education matters and the more experience will show the potential.

Companies are scared shitless of being accused of unequitable hiring.

It's happening in construction big time . I have a female PM and she is dumber than a bag of hammers.
We have been taken of hard money contract and put on T&M because of the screw ups and the fear of replacing her. Sad part she is to hard headed to listen. I'm sure all things will be blamed on labor..... I will gladly take the 60hrs a week to the bank ...
