What?

How is saying that they weren't charged with murder being telling even remotely trying to excuse anything?

My take on it was that, initially, the main stream media, some of the more left leaning at least, and many in our government, also some of the more left leaning, were claiming the officer was murdered with a fire extinguisher.

It's telling that all of that was bunk. That's not excusing what these guys may have done (innocent until proven guilty and all you know).
It's probably a good thing that the kentucky kid who attacked the elderly indian while on a field trip to DC wasn't in town for the Jan 6th invasion of the White House... He would have been convicted and executed for being in town.....

I certainly wish it hadn’t happened, but she was in the middle of a mass of people coming over a barrier at a lone or at least dramatically outnumbered officer.

I'm not going to bash the officer here, but the side he was on, there was no crowd of people. Just a hole big enough for a woman to pass through. I don't think this was a justified shooting personally, and no one on the left would have seen it that way has she been a radical leftist either.

That said, this was about a guy in Morgantown and going this far is probably too OT.

:joy::joy::joy::joy::joy: You are hilarious! If not insurrectionists what were they? If they caused the officer's death shouldn't they be charged?
I was referring to this: "This is a crafted narrative to try and bludgeon Trump supporters." It sound like you take offense to this.

Well, we know the media has been lying about the last four years. We know that Trumps conversation with he Georgia AG, as quoted by the Post, was a lie. The ME knows what killed him or what didn't kill him. Wonder why it wasn't released? We also know who had pistols in the Capitol. All one has to do is check the key cards and see where everybody was and why an unarmed woman was shot. Probably because she was white and the shooter was probably black since that's all that seems to work in DC Capitol

Wow, that was subtle. Not racist at all. Washington D.C. population is 46% black, but the Capitol police force is only 29% black.

Couldn’t agree more. The moment a person ignores a police officer’s reasonable command and resists them is the moment I no longer care what happens to them. That doesn’t mean the person deserves to die, Im just not going to shed a tear. It applies to Babbit, Floyd, brooks, and the dozens of others this summer who fought the police. Their jobs are tough enough as it is, especially given their low pay.

btw, Appalachia Kitchen was excellent. Great tip. It recently moved to the 4th floor across the parking lot and has sunset views of the mountains. Thanks for the tip.
Glad you enjoyed it. Sounds like a nice move for them!

Have you watched the video? There is absolutely no way for that officer to know whether she or others were armed. They were being violent and had already broken into the Capitol where members of. Ingress were. You have to make certain assumptions in that setting. They know the officer’s identity, but haven’t released it to the public. I don’t know the considerations surrounding that, but the Capitol Police concluded the use of force was justified and have been waiting for the US Attorney’s Office to conclude its investigation and determine whether it will pursue charges. As a practical matter, I don’t think they will or should pursue charges.

Make “certain assumptions”? Like the policemen trying to arrest career criminals resisting arrest? Ashli Babbitt was not a criminal. She was a veteran wh fought for our country. But I’m guessing you’re more upset about George Floyd.

Can we move this to the OT board? Looks like a lot of otherwise mostly normal posters going after each other on here.

Why hasn’t the name of the officer who shot Ashli Babbitt been released? She was unarmed and was never told to stand down and was standing on the other side of a barrier and was shot without warning. While she was trespassing she didn’t deserve to be shot.

Seems a lot of violent behavior last summer in Portland and Seattle as well as Minneapolis went unpunished while this girl was executed. And no one is even talking about it. Tragic and sad.
Careful Ron. Rhe Cancel brigade will.come after you. Interesting question though....why don't we have his name? Was she really cremated?

Wtf are you talking about? Where did I say a single word about George Floyd? I’m talking about the Ashli Babbitt shooting. She was in fact engaged in criminal trespass and destruction of property at the time of her shooting. She was in the midst of a violent uprising. Do you think the officer was not aware more broadly that other officers had been overrun and potentially injured at that point? Yes, in that setting he was entitled to make certain reasonable assumptions about what he was facing and to use reasonable force to protect himself and others. That’s exactly what he did. What was he to conclude was going to happen when the masses broke through that barrier? What was he supposed to do? Step aside? Get run over? Get shot, get beaten, get blasted with bear spray? He knew he lacked the resource at that point to arrest any of those people. And he was not just worried about protecting himself. He was charged with protecting members of Congress. This really is not rationally debatable.

Are you kidding me? How would that officer know whether she or the others with her were unarmed in that setting? They were smashing glass coming at him, she was trying to climb over or through it, and people were screaming about a gun. Members of Congress also were still in the building as the mob was violently breaking through. What was that officer supposed to do? How exactly was he supposed to try to arrest her or anyone else without risk to his own life?
That whole event inside the capitol was staged by APs...and that is not a questiin

I was over the top but one could see the gun that was fired. One can also determine who was there by key card swipes. You can bet if that was a blm protestor who was shot, we would know who did it and that person would have been arrested.

Hard to find any way to excuse shooting her. She was unarmed and nobody's life was in danger.
So breaking down a door that was barricaded w/ heavy objects is your everyday knock and hello we would like to come in and talk. The police warned them, told them to stop, but no one was stepping back or stopping!!

She was as soon as she entered a restricted area by force....sorry Ron she was as guilty as anyone who entered or anyone who broke into Portland’s Federal Building!!

True. George Floyd was a many times convicted felon. He was murdered and it breaks my heart. But where is the out cry for a GD true American who served her country and was executed? Guess she’s too white for anyone to care.

What part of unarmed and not a threat to life is hard to understand? Ask yourself why only one shot was fired that day? Using your justification there should have been hundreds shot yet there was that one. Every other cop there didnt overreact and nobody got shot.

The only weapons were the capitol police. She was shot almost point blank climbing over a barricade. I have no problem defending police but this was indefinsible.
So let me ask, you are in your home and someone enters illegally and comes beating on you bedroom door? You are armed, you just invite them in or protect yourself?? See the similarities??

They were the last line of defense of the people they were sworn to protect and the people were breaking down the barricades w/ no sign of stopping or stepping back after repeated warnings....tragic yes, justified absolutely!!

Definitely similar. A person is doing something unlawfully and potentially putting people at risk. Cop tell her to stop. She does the complete opposite. If she doesn't want to get shot, listen to law enforcement.

BTW, you are not a police officer is correct. As no cop would just assume a person isn't carrying a concealed weapon in that situation. Many of those rioters had bad intentions. Enough had or used some kind of weapon pretty much the entire process.

Some of the weapons that were confiscated had been seen being used inside the US Capitol including a baseball bat, a fire extinguisher, a wooden club, a spear, crutches, a flagpole, bear spray, mace, chemical irritants, stolen police shields, a wooden beam, a hockey stick, a stun gun, and knives.

Many of these weapons were used to attack police officers who were protecting the Capitol.

The hand-to-hand combat sent more than a dozen officers to the hospital, including some who sustained concussions and bone fractures. The former chief of the US Capitol Police said his officers fought off the armed crowd for about an hour before the rioters overpowered the police lines

Lonnie Coffman of Alabama was arrested near the Capitol shortly before the attack and was found with what one judge called a "small armory" in his truck. Investigators discovered three guns, 11 Molotov cocktails, a crossbow with bolts, smoke bombs and a stun gun, according to court documents. Coffman, 70, pleaded not guilty last month to a 17-count criminal indictment.

Someone placed two pipe bombs near the Republican National Committee and the Democratic National Committee headquarters, blocks from the Capitol.

I would shoot anyone who broke into my house just like I would someone breaking into my business. The difference is that I would probably be in jail if I shot someone breaking into my business if I lived in Portland, Seattle, and few more cities this summer.

Aside from the 11 Molotov cocktails... a "small armory" is not 3 guns and a crossbow. That's more like a Nano Armory.

Those damn elderly.

And to be clear, this is the same **** Antifa and BLM were using on police all summer and continue to use as recently as this weekend when they were waging domestic terrorism in Portland on the Federal courthouse.

This has gone way OT.

Saying it's not debatable though is absurd.

Name one instance where a person that far away shot an unarmed woman and there wasn't debate about it. The cop made a call. It was the wrong call. I'll not do to him what the left would have done if the tables were reversed, but I'll also not stand by and listen to bilge like "This is not rationally debatable."

My gosh man. Your know very well it is.

Literally the equivalent of firing into an unarmed crowd, because that what it was. Why her? Why not one of the others? Just curious.

No, i don’t see the similarities at all. Congress is the people’s house. Maybe you’ve forgotten a lot about how our Government is supposed to run.
