You were still allowed to deduct charitable contributions, individual retirement contributions, real estate taxes, losses on depreciating assets, passive income interest and a variety of other tax deductible allowances under the current tax code regardless of where you lived. You earned by your own admission in excess of a quarter million dollars and didn't donate one penny you were legally allowed to claim as a charitable contribution?

New York received $0.90 per every $1.00 they pay In federal taxes to Washington in 2020. 10% isn’t that severe of a subsidy of poor states. Think about how many companies have HQ in NYC but operate in other states. Not to mention the amount of military bases and other federal units that need to have money distributed to them for the good of the entire country. If you don’t want NY to pay more than they receive then have the highest earners move out.. which is exactly what’s happening.
what happens in NY stays in NY...they don't mind paying local taxes that benefit them...which is paid for by all Americans because most investment banks are located there...and pays the salaries.
Not to mention that argument makes the assumption that all NY tax payers are Dems.. just like saying all Texans are Republicans.. it’s just disingenuous.
