Let’s say they don’t have a season which at this point is what the news wants and let’s be honest the news is the ones pulling the punches. The backlash when people go against them is to much. You don’t hear a word around little league fields because there’s no media. But anyways my question is what would ncaa do with the athletes scholarships and numbers with rosters?

It's what the media wants? I don't get that at all. I haven't seen anything written by the media where they said I don't want football. You caught me off guard on this one.

You think media members who make a living by reporting on sports really want the season to be canceled?

Depends..

If they, like many media members, lean left (sports journalism not immune.. see Darren Rovell Tweeting with glee about cases of COVID rising in SEC country this past weekend)... I wouldn't doubt at all that they would willingly "sacrifice" a job for a new world order where all things are "equitable" .. from a social justice and economic equality perspective. Remember our DA had a masthead motto of "littly good comes without controversy" (or some nonsense like that). Even sports journalists think they "can change the world" (such BS crap)

Besides many probably don't think this season being cancelled will cost them. They can spend half the time getting booked on various radio shows (even some outlets that wouldn't have cared before) talking about the cancellation etc... If that has a limited run they'll just live off Uncle Sam's tit like everyone else....

Mog not sure they want season to be cancelled. HOWEVER, IMHO there are some in the media (even some sports connected) who want the coronavirus situation to be
as bad as possible to make people pissed off going into the election in hopes the President will be defeated.

So much this. I’ve had a lot of friends and people I know laid off or lost their jobs entirely. This isn’t fun for anybody and goes back to what I said about sacrifices.

Lot of coal miners lost their jobs before the virus hit, and that ain't fun either; yet no one seems to give a **** about them.

The problem is the media keeps releasing statements from government officials saying they don't want it. They sure aren't saying much to refute the thought either.

Maybe...just maybe..."the media" is just reporting on a global pandemic that has cost the USA 130K lives and seems to be gaining momentum here the last few weeks again.

Maybe there's no conspiracy to get the sports seasons canceled or influence the election.

Maybe the facts on the ground are driving decisions to preserve lives.

If your more concerned about weird ideas your paranoid mind comes up with than the actual real life problems we actually have you're doing it wrong.

I know some schools have huge endowments, but if NCAA misses out on football and on a 2and consecutive hoops tourney, tons of schools will be folding up shop on sponsoring sports.

well all I know is that all of our players that have tested positive for covid either had no symptoms or mild symptoms. The earlier ones have completely recovered and the more recent ones are recovering with no problems. My son and the other players are not allowed to come home so he can't give anything to me or my family and as far as the coaches and staff, well they can social distance and wear masks. Also like anywhere, a person should have the right to say I don't want to do this but they should have football..

With all due respect, do you think the Disney executives care if Herbstreit wants to have a season? I think Disney has made it clear which team they play for.

Alternative energy pressure ! That's how the pipeline going through WV was also recently nixed. WV has needed to diversify its industries for decades and really hasn't :-(

Yep...just like sometimes you can win the lottery and sometimes you dont. Lots of things can go either way.

Our job as humans is to look at the totality of the evidence and make educated decisions.

With the investment they have in ESPN you'd think they'd want to play, but it's like we are living in Bizarro World.

Agreed. Given all the Power 5 schools that are in the state of Florida, as well as their Disney parks, you’d think they’d use their megaphone to refute the false information coming out on the Florida Covid numbers. It just came out this week that 300 testing labs were reporting 100% positive rate, when the actual number is 10x less. We are a month away from football season, the fact that we hear crickets from them tells me everything I need to know.

Bizarro would be disregarding human lives in the pursuit of money.

Which is what you seem to be advocating.
With all the information that has come out as well as some personal stories regarding testing mistakes I don't think the risk to human life is near what people are wanted to believe.

Yes. I see WVU losing most non-revenue sports-unless donors make up the difference. We just don't have the endowment or the state economy to save them. Just reality!

They dont read conspiracy theory websites I guess.

It's weird that all the same people that think the president is doing a good job also believe death numbers are fake. What a crazy coincidence.

What's the weather like there in fantasy land?

President is doing fine. Deaths to get adjusted abd number are falsified or do u ignore those articles? Most do. It’s amazing how I witness 20 softball teams playing ball in tournaments on weekends and you hear nothing about covid. But mainstream media reports every time one person gets it to keep people scared. Mail in voting is what they want. Florida numbers are false. Just like an earlier poster said. Labs are messing this data all to hell. And then giving extra money for a certain kind of death will always make it tempting. I know people at a hospital that say if you died while having covid they labeled it covid. Even if u had an underlying issue that may have been the reason.

Don’t take my word for it, google it for yourself. CNN won’t report on it.

IMHO - Both sides are playing this CV for their advantage. I for one would not associate myself with anyone that would want this virus to be as bad as possible.

This is your problem. You are blind and think this started with COVID.

The leaning started many years ago. Outright lies have been told and/or truths not reported because it didn't fit the agenda.

They lost our trust long ago, and have done nothing during all of this to gain it back.

Who wants this pandemic to be as bad as possible?

That's the problem with always saying both sides are at fault. You end up making up what you think one side must be doing to equal out what the "other side" is doing.

No one wants this pandemic to be happening.
