Here's another scoop folks why Nancy doesn't dare take a House vote to impeach. The case then goes to the Se ante, where her House managers (still un-designated as of today) would prosecute the case before the Jury (all 100 Senators)
Guess what the rules call for? Jurors (ie: Senators) MUST
remain silent during the trial! In other words, they can't go out there "commenting" on the case, or making speeches about it while the trial is underway. Just like a normal court.
Well, if this vote is taken anytime after Christmas guess what? There are no fewer than five Democrat Senators currently running for the party's Presidential nomination who would have to suspend their campaigns just as primaries get underway and sit silent for the months/weeks ahead during this trial! That's right, even with primaries approaching or underway, they couldn't go out there and campaign for the votes they've been working for more than a year to collect.
They'd have to stay in session, shut up, and sit there quietly until asked to vote on the presented evidence. Look at the list who'd be so pissed at Nancy if she sent an impeachment case to the Senate during the Democrat primary season:
- Senator Cory Booker
- Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (dropped out)
- Senator Kamala Harris
- Senator Amy Klobuchar
- Senator Elizabeth Warren
- Senator Bernie Sanders
Any chance Nancy rains on their Presidential parade during the crucial early Democrat primary season? Any chance they let her?
Not a chance. No vote.
