that this squad lacks talent, do you still stand by those statements and if not...why not?

What will that do for you personally if people answer your question? I know there were people that questioned whether the team had coaching the last two weeks.

This to me is a hard question. I just believe that a coache's teaching technique has a lot to do with how a player reacts and performs. Particularly true for those who have talent that's there but hidden a bit below the surface.

WVU was a major improvement against North Carolina State. Period. Blocking. Tackling. Pass defense. Punt block. WVU was a disaster against Missouri. Obviously this team can go either way, but it is young so it should improve throughout the season and in the following seasons. But the Texas, Iowa State and Oklahoma gauntlet would be a severe test for any Big 12 team. We'll see. I feel better than I did before the Wolfpack game. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Everyone needs to take a deep breath. With any football team, the evaluation is ongoing.

No one, including the coaches, knows exactly what we have and what we don't have at this point in time. Especially this year, where so many players are getting baptized by fire. Sit back and watch and enjoy...some weeks will be better than others,

We showed growth in Week 3. That is good news. Let's see how Week 4 goes. The evaluation is ongoing!

NC State's first road game with a young QB helped.
Plus Missouri forced us to get better and now we forced NC State to get better.

You have to be close to an elite team to run WVU off the field in WV.

I will actually agree with you on this. Only because you're approaching objectivity, though.

I'd say Brown is clearly better in his approach toward coaching players up, discipline, and work ethic. I base that upon the way the man carries himself, conducts interviews where he actually talks about specifics rather than just coaching cliches, and the emphasis on the fundamentals like calling out all the missed tackles against Mizzou. He may not have the talent to be a great HC, but Brown seems to have a better mentality for head coaching than Dana. Which I'll admit is why I have more hope now with Brown over Dana because I can understand lack of talent keeping you from success while laziness is a choice. I know that ultimately its about winning games and if Brown doesn't deliver, the only important thing it will show is that neither he nor Dana were the right head coach for WVU and it will be the next guy's chance.

What if the bottom falls out.

Some of the things Bucky says is correct. Plus all those programs like Penn State, Pitt, Boston College, Syracuse and Miami.
They aren't as good now as they were 25-30 years ago.
That could be WVU. We make fun of programs like Texas Tech, Kansas State, Iowa State and even....Kansas.
What if that is WVU in 5-10 years. Who is to say WVU deserves to be a Top 15 team. Dana had us there a few times.
Be careful what you wish for because playing musical chairs could give us a bad seat or maybe two or three.
Not saying Neal Brown is that but Dana wasn't as bad as some of you want to make him out to be.

Dana couldn't finish a season on top. Lost 3 straight at the end of the season in 2017, 2018. Was picked by many to finish #2 in 2012 and 2018 and some had him winning the conference. Neal Brown might do the same. Dana may not of been as bad as we thought but he also wasn't as good as most are saying. He's just above average like most coaches at WVU end up being.

There's nothing to support this being a step up.

Holgorsen never had WVU anywhere close to the dregs like Brown did in just two games for rushing nationally or offense nationally.

Brown's defenses and special teams haven't been all that different either--Holgorsen wasn't getting blown out by unranked teams like Missouri with only 30 yds rushing and numerous turnovers.

Holgorsen won lots and lots of games for WVU--many against ranked opponents, many more against teams as good as NC State was.

He improved players in season and over the duration of time in the new conference he had to move WVU into.

This week they'll move into the brutal conference schedule where there are no gimme's and we will see just how easy it is to win in the conference--so many right here still claimed any coach in America could step right in and do it--so expect at least 8 wins this year based on that repeated claim.

Dana gets blamed for not winning but those are by the people who through he was going to win the Big 12 his first season.
That disappointment stuck and if you combined that with his second year most didn't think he would ever win the Big 12.
Fast forward to Neal Brown. People think Neal Brown is going to win the Big 12. Maybe not this year or next but sometime. There isn't any proof that Neal can and winning the conference shouldn't determined if he is a good coach or not. Thing is if we do keep a good coach around WVU could win the Big 12. In reality WVU can stay in this conference for the next 30 years and we will never win this conference in consecutive years. Just won't happen. WVU could win this conference if a program and identity is established. Dana had one that could be competitive. Let us see with Neal.

LOL! You're an idiot. We got demolished twice in bowl games by Syracuse.

Holgorsen wasn't getting blown out by unranked teams

LOL!

Lost to Syracuse (unranked) in 2011, 49-23
Lost to Texas Tech (unranked) in 2012, 49-14
Lost to Oklahoma State (unranked) in 2012, 55-34
Lost to Maryland (unranked) in 2013, 37-0 (total yards rushing 113, total yards passing 62)
Lost to Kansas (unranked, of course and went 3-9) in 2013, 31-19

He should have been fired after that 4-8 season, but hindsight is 20/20. His bowl record here was 2-5 and we didn't even make a bowl one year. We lost the last three consecutive bowl games.

STFU and have a seat.

Seriously dude you need to step back and let time do it’s thing. I was a Dana guy too but give Brown some credit for Saturday and time to change culture to his liking. I wasn’t impressed with recruiting class and all of the player exits but no question coaching staff won that game Saturday. You’re coming off as a hater not quality football guy.

Not all the way true but you have to get comparable talent to what comes out of Texas. Even states around Texas that the Big 12 can recruit.

Virginia
Maryland
Carolina
Georgia
Florida

Those are the states that we need players to come from.

You can find some players in the Northeast that are undervalued but not as many as Texas or the Southeast.

Richardcranium1 aka fake Texas dude likes to tell the world about all the great talent coming out of Texas. Well lets see what is wvu's record against Baylor since starting big 12 play. what is wvu's record against Texas tech? What is Wvu's record against the fraud horns? Only tcu has a winning record against wvu since starting big 12 play. The failure to get those overrated Texas players is really killing wvu's program. Maryland did't have any problem against Texas either. LSU proved once again that Texas has nothing but fat and slow athletics. But anyone with common sense knew this.

There you go again blaming someone other than Dana. If you would have given anything to have Koenning here while Dana was here then why didn't he go out and get someone like that. The assistants he hires is on him. Dana was more interested in hiring his drinking buddies like Joe deforest and that bum wickline who got fired at Texas. How are things going for Dana in Houston?

Since you are ready to pass judgement on Brown’s entire career at WVU on his first three games, and insist on making comparisons to Holgorsen’s success, then we should consider that...

Holgorsen had a career winning percentage of 59%, or .590 while at WVU.

Brown has a career winning percentage of 66%, or .666 while at WVU.

So you have continued to refuse to acknowledge that Brown is only three games in at WVU, and you give him no concessions for being only three games in in your comparisons to Holgorsen’s accomplishments at WVU.

Therefore, if you refuse to acknowledge the higher winning percentage currently held by Brown than Holgorsen had, you admit by default your entire argument from day one against Brown is null and void.

You can’t have it both ways.

Not Oklahoma but wvu is already beating Texas. But Texas has always been overrated. Texas is Fat and slow like always. Got exposed by LSU. Will get exposed 2-3 more times before the season ends.
