After Chip Kelly lost to Cindy again last night, had Utah lost to BYU too, it would have really made the conference look bad. They definitely need Oregon to upset Auburn this weekend or their tale of woe will continue to get longer and louder.
Not taking anything away from Cincinnati, as they won 11 games last season and they look like they could win the American this year, but UCLA and the P12 needed to win that game. They can’t continue to lose games they should win over G5 programs, even ones like Cincinnati that could probably compete or at least put up fight in a Power 5 league.
The P12 is going to have to do something or they are going to fall further behind. I think some things they could do to improve their chances are...
- giving their players a full 5 years to play 5, instead of 4 years and 4 games like it is now...
- give all out of conference in-coming transfers immediate eligibility to play right away, which might lure other power 5 players looking to transfer out west so they would not have to fight not to sit a year
- drop back to an 8 game schedule like the ACC and SEC do and schedule themselves another win each year.
- play more middle of the week games on Fox/ESPN to showcase their teams and players when their is not a lot of competition, and start the games at 8 pm EST.
If they do not improve, they might end up in desperation mode and start trying to pull Oklahoma away again like they did a few years ago. Oklahoma would be a coup for them, and the Sooners would step in and be the Alpha Dog right off the bat, not having any more difficult fight than they do in the B12 to make the play offs.
If that happens, all heck could break loose in the next 4-5 years as T contracts all come up for renewal.
