The P12 really needed that Utah win over BYU last night

After Chip Kelly lost to Cindy again last night, had Utah lost to BYU too, it would have really made the conference look bad. They definitely need Oregon to upset Auburn this weekend or their tale of woe will continue to get longer and louder.

Not taking anything away from Cincinnati, as they won 11 games last season and they look like they could win the American this year, but UCLA and the P12 needed to win that game. They can’t continue to lose games they should win over G5 programs, even ones like Cincinnati that could probably compete or at least put up fight in a Power 5 league.

The P12 is going to have to do something or they are going to fall further behind. I think some things they could do to improve their chances are...

- giving their players a full 5 years to play 5, instead of 4 years and 4 games like it is now...

- give all out of conference in-coming transfers immediate eligibility to play right away, which might lure other power 5 players looking to transfer out west so they would not have to fight not to sit a year

- drop back to an 8 game schedule like the ACC and SEC do and schedule themselves another win each year.

- play more middle of the week games on Fox/ESPN to showcase their teams and players when their is not a lot of competition, and start the games at 8 pm EST.

If they do not improve, they might end up in desperation mode and start trying to pull Oklahoma away again like they did a few years ago. Oklahoma would be a coup for them, and the Sooners would step in and be the Alpha Dog right off the bat, not having any more difficult fight than they do in the B12 to make the play offs.

If that happens, all heck could break loose in the next 4-5 years as T contracts all come up for renewal.

Everything you say is a good suggestion. However, the P12 is suffering from another phenomenon: Of their 5 most successful programs, four of them are located in major metro areas and must compete against NFL teams.

Don't get me wrong. As a WVU Alum, I love living on the Left Coast. I spent 15 years in Phoenix before moving to metro LA. I absolutely love living here. However, in both cities, I was totally surprised at how college football is viewed here.

College football here is not the emotional, year round activity that it is back in Mountaineer Country. Yes, the teams want to be successful. And, there is a ton of talent here. But, college football here is a sport. Not a way of life. That will never change.

The Rams, SF 49ers/Raiders, Seahawks, and Cardinals are the teams that get most of the attention in their respective markets. Not USC, Stanford, UW, or ASU. That will never change. Only Oregon has a solid, emotional backing. But, it does not have to compete with an NFL team for attention.

That is even more evident when you check out the P12 Network. But, if you do, you will be in a minority. Most people here don't even know that it exists. It's been a financial failure. If OU and UT want to join the P12, they will be taking a step backwards. Again, college football on the Left Coast is a sport, not a way of life.

I find it hard to believe that during the Pete Carroll glory years, that USC wasn't getting all the love in LA.

They were everything and then some during that time period...plus no NFL teams during that time.

But I get what you are saying...its not a way of life in the Pac 12 like it is here or say the SEC.

USC has been a mess since John Robinson left for the Rams.
Don't get me wrong they won under Pete Carroll but he was their ninth choice in 1999.
They didn't even want him. Problem is PC couldn't keep the boosters from doing what SC boosters do.
They need a strong willed coach who could get everything under control. Won't happen. Urban is the only one and Ohio St released the info so USC won't bring him in.

PAC 12 has a huge issue right now
Oklahoma
Texas
LSU
Clemson
Alabama
Georgia
Ohio State

All these schools are moving in.

USC has had a target on their chest. Oregon may be next. Oregon has slid under the radar. But I think the 2021 recruiting class will be different.

Worst thing going for the PAC 12 is the elite talent isn't staying home in the PAC 12 states
California, Arizona, Utah, Washington and even Nevada

For a ninth choice he sure showed PAC 12 who's boss.

9 years 8 first place finishes 97-19 plus a National Championship.(vacated) IMO it's a waist of time to vacate a national champion. Especially when you don't put them on probation.

They went through a bunch of candidates.
Think Mike Riley was their #1 choice.
The USC Family. They like to hire one of their guys

PC was finally hired and no one expected anything. For a program it was a failure because it wasn't like they wanted PC and brought in PC to win.
They had to settle on him. All part of their problem
If you want to learn how not to run a football program spend some time around SC.

Everyone in America knows the PAC12 is not good. Nothing changed with anything that happened in week 1. They needed Oklahoma and Texas badly and should have closed that deal by letting Okie St and TTU come along for the ride. There should have been nothing that stood in the way. The PAC12 sealed their own fate. The country barely cared about that league when USC was great. The arrogance of some of these Execs are hilarious.

Except OK and Texas did not want to take a pay cut, play games when no one watches or lose their power position inside a conference. But outside that it almost happened

I don’t know. Appeared serious at the time. Point was PAC12 should have given away the kitchen sink to make it happen.

This is big boy talk. Also, keep your advances to yourself.

With the proper diet, you don't have to be fat Greg. Perhaps more exercise also. It was nowhere near as serious as you portray. Texas and OK are not a cultural fit with the left coast. If you want to be the self per-claimed king of the message board, you need to limit your low IQ posts.

Neither is the ACC and neither is the Big 12.

All three conferences aren't any good at football.

Truthfully doesn't mean much because people who celebrate conferences are because their team is weak.

But there are some facts mixed up.
1) Texas talking with the PAC 12 was a negotiation tactic for the LHN. PAC 12 was going to start a network without ESPN. ESPN wanted their hands on Texas' third tier rights in sports.
The PAC 12 talks were based around leverage with ESPN and in hopes of blowing it up for Colorado.
Even started having people in Colorado thinking that the PAC 12 was going to pass them over for the 4 Texas schools and 2 Oklahoma schools.

Oklahoma after the fact tried to get into the PAC 12 by themselves when UT told Stanford no.
But the PAC 12 wasn't interested in Oklahoma.

California is a destination spot for Oklahoma. PAC 12 represents California.
Cultural fit be damn.
Oklahoma has ties to California even has a fanbase there and recruits the state very well. California is their second biggest recruiting state after Texas.

Just got out of Leonardo da Vinci museum. Recommend the experience to everyone.
Special feeling of culture and history in those three rooms. Upstairs is close but still worth the time. The Last Super sketches and prints are breathtaking.

You really are a small man despite that extra weight you carry. Sorry if I showed your ignorance on the whole PAC12 thing. It was low hanging fruit and another in a long line of low IQ posts from your account. Still wonder what other account you are mistakenly thinking is mine. Enjoy your outing.

They actually mocked you in the brewery thread. You’re not here much all summer. Then when actual football start you infect the free site. What a geek.

BTW thanks. Had incredible experience at Leonardo da Vinci museum. I’ll keep you updated.

LOL, you sure can dish it but can't take it snowflake. I don't really consider someone riding around a golf course an athlete. Not sure you can hang with me on the trail. Hiked 6 miles with 50 lbs on my back with 1500 foot climb this morning. Yesterday was 12 miles with 2500 ft. of elevation gain. The day before was 6 miles with 2000 feet of climbing. Hey what was the score to the Pitt game? Asking for a friend.

I had an athletic background as a kid and adult. I have zero question in my mind you were the geek in the stands drinking and yelling. Pitt lost to a better team. You still have Pitt on the brain haha.

You are in London posting with panties in a wade, snowflake. The issue is you want to think you can post anything no matter how ignorant or false and have no one point out your BS. LOL Your ratio is 1 like to 5 posts and I am 1 in 3 but you keep pointing that out? You really are low IQ and one sad individual.

I thought as a Pitt guy and a so called big boy sports expert, you could give us some insight on why Pitt is still under achieving?

Ok 5-0 of course I’m messin because you’re kinda my buddy on here. You just don’t know it haha. Trust me I know you’re a Lot member because they were making fun of you in a couple of threads. The weird thing is you didn’t stick up for yourself. I was close to posting that you were a good WVU guy so leave 5-0 alone but I’ve only posted a little and only content program related. And of course my like ratio to those posts are good. I was honest and direct back in the day and now there’s like no way to post with about 5-10 of you. The true troll, Texass, is actually a good content guy. He knows his stuff. It’s just that Mr. knowitalls are annoying.

Syracuse, Pitt, BC or Rutgers, Penn State and Maryland
I will put money on the latter.

None of these networks are heavily viewed. With fact being obviously the case I would think the ACC network won’t set the world on fire.
