There is a sizable difference in the revenue available to pay the male and female teams. According to Mike Oznian, a writer for Forbes, the 2015 Women’s World Cup “brought in almost $73 million, of which the players got 13%. The 2010 men’s World Cup in South Africa made almost $4 billion, of which 9% went to the players.”

Last year, the men’s World Cup in Russia generated more than $6 billion in revenue; the participating teams shared about $400 million. That is less than 7 percent of overall revenue. Meanwhile, the 2019 Women’s World Cup made somewhere in the region of $131 million, doling out $30 million, well more than 20 percent of collected revenue, to the participating teams. It seems a pay gap does exist, after all.

If the women want more they can always do the men's dirty laundry. :sunglasses:

So, the women get a bigger percentage of the overall revenue than the men do? And what is your plan to bolster the revenue gap between men's sports and women's sports? How do you make women's sports more attractive to the average viewer?

Viewership seems up and expandable for the broads. Dudes? Not so much. I'm not arguing for "equal" pay, but I'd say now is the time for the broads to negotiate. WTF do I care if some soccer org overpays players or woefully undersells the event for TV?

Especially from the US side. FIFA side is hard to argue, tho I think an argument can be made that the women have a great deal of growth potential.
It’s definitely Trump’s fault, and that of his American loving followers.

Looks like the chicks do generate more revenue than the men in the US.

PARIS—In the three years after the U.S. women’s soccer team won the 2015 World Cup, U.S. women’s games generated more total revenue than U.S. men’s games, according to audited financial reports from the U.S. Soccer Federation.

They should really. I dont know the exact count but they play a lot more games here and they have their own tourney here sponsored by Nike. The men pribably play as many games but they share revenue witj Concacaf and sometines CONMEBOL depending on the tourney. Add that the women are a good TV draw they should really.

I knew about 6 words in that post. That said, it seems they have some legs to stand on.

I have zero problems with them trying to get what they think they deserve......more power to them........and I support their efforts. However.....I do have a BIGGLY problem with anyone disrespecting our anthem and country on the international stage.

Umm, their play isn't equal to the men.

We often hear people say college athletes should be paid. But if we're paying based on what they bring in then shouldn't football and men's basketball players be paid more than the rest? For that matter, if we pay based on what they bring in, all the other athletes shouldn't get paid anything because they already cost more than they bring in.

No... it's not even close. I watched the USA vs. Mexico at the sold out Soldiers Field Gold Cup game last night. Wow.....the difference is stunning.......BUT....if the ladies generate more revenue.....pay them.
