The Alumni cannot play for their schools but they can write checks. WVU will increase attendance by playing Marshall and that will translate into donations. And fyi I have never attended a Marshall game. The Marshall/WVU games generated a lot of publicity. It would be great for recruiting, too as more stations would pick up the rivalry game
Hope Manchin runs for governor in 2020. He made them play the last time.
I know this is probably hard for Herd fans to fathom, but three things you have to consider...
1) It generated a lot of interest in the Charleston/Huntington Metro Area, not on a national level.
2) It was on national television because all of West Virginia’s football games, regardless of opponent, are televised nationally except our one tier 3 rights game and that is even on Fox Pittsburgh National (ATT Sports). This happens because we are a P5 school in the Big 12 conference. Have been for years now. Pretty cool how that works isn’t it?
3) Pretty sure people aren’t going to donate for the lone fact that Marshall is on the schedule.. You can’t even draw 80% stadium capacity consistantly and you couldn’t even sell out your small alotment of tickets in Morgantown by the end of the last series.
