WVU has sellouts when they have played Marshall. And those Alum can write checks to the University. Look at Penn State. It has 2 billion in endowments. WVU only had 48 fans the last time it played for the Big East Co-championship. It schedules weak sister opponents so if they are so much better than Marshall [they are, b/t/w] then sked Marshall for the $ it will bring to the university.

So if we schedule Marshall we will soon have 2 billion dollars in endowments? No wonder you signed on over 17 years ago and made your first post today.

Paint your peeling green bleachers before talking about $2 billion...

Are all Marshall fans this retarded

What does Marshall playing WV have to do with Penn St's endowment.

Schools have endowments because a lot of schools were given huge pieces of land.
Great investments and money manging made some schools endowments skyrocket.

Don't see how football has anything to do with this .

The Alumni cannot play for their schools but they can write checks. WVU will increase attendance by playing Marshall and that will translate into donations. And fyi I have never attended a Marshall game. The Marshall/WVU games generated a lot of publicity. It would be great for recruiting, too as more stations would pick up the rivalry game

Hope Manchin runs for governor in 2020. He made them play the last time.

So you say schedule Marshall because people will go to the game but you have never been to a Marshall game.

Makes sense to me.

He was too busy huffing what Elmer Fike left in those drums on his old plant site.

I miss Elmer. He was an original.

Maybe we could schedule Fairmont Senior instead?

I know this is probably hard for Herd fans to fathom, but three things you have to consider...

1) It generated a lot of interest in the Charleston/Huntington Metro Area, not on a national level.

2) It was on national television because all of West Virginia’s football games, regardless of opponent, are televised nationally except our one tier 3 rights game and that is even on Fox Pittsburgh National (ATT Sports). This happens because we are a P5 school in the Big 12 conference. Have been for years now. Pretty cool how that works isn’t it?

3) Pretty sure people aren’t going to donate for the lone fact that Marshall is on the schedule.. You can’t even draw 80% stadium capacity consistantly and you couldn’t even sell out your small alotment of tickets in Morgantown by the end of the last series.

Maybe instead of actually scheduling Marshall, make the last spring practice a scrimmage between Marshall and WVU and donate the money along with the Blue/Gold Scrimmage to the Children's Hospital.

Otherwise there is about as much reason for WVU to play Marshall as it would be to play West Virginia State or West Virginia Wesleyan.

WVU should play Marshall every year in everything. Why people don’t want to see that is puzzling and rediculous.

I’d rather play JMU every year. Speaking of which what are your thoughts on picking up Houston from JMU if he hadn’t already taken the ECU Job?
