Historic Football Final Four?

This may be an historic Football Final Four: THREE unbeaten teams!!!

In the 6 years, I believe, of the Football Final Four there were only a total of 3 teams unbeaten and never more than 1 in a season.

Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame.

The Irish don’t play again and had a weak schedule (Michigan victory doesn’t look like much now) but I can’t quarrel with a Power 5 team or independent equivalent that is unbeaten being in the Football Final Four.

Alabama and Clemson are pretty close to locks to stay unbeaten, although there’s no guarantees in college football.

So then it comes down to Oklahoma, if it beats Texas, with the best offense in the country, or an Ohio State team that looked semi-lost for most of the season or a Georgia team losing to Alabama.

Oklahoma has the brand that TV likes so I’m guessing … and it’s just that … that if Oklahoma wins the Big 12 title game and Georgia loses that the Sooners will get the nod. The Buckeyes, other than the Michigan game (hell Notre Dame beat the Wolverines, too), haven’t done much.

It will interesting to see how the College Pretzel Committee explains its 4 choices.

More hatred of the Buckeyes by the Buckeyes' hater. If Ohio State routs Northwestern, and Oklahoma surrenders more than 40 points to its opponent for the fifth consecutive game on Saturday, then prepare yourself to be disappointed for living vicariously through Oklahoma.

You are getting a head of yourself.

Northwestern isn't Michigan.
Fitzgerald doesn't play football like it is still 1996.
Ohio St's defense will look bad again because Ohio St will score points .

OU and Ohio St are in the same boat.
This is pretty much what the talking heads are saying.
But....
OU's offense is much better than Ohio St's.

This is all moot because OU will not win on Saturday and Ohio St will struggle against Northwestern.

Truthfully think UGA gets the #4 spot.

Oklahoma's offense is only slightly better than Ohio State's offense, and its defense is worse. Look up the numbers. Texass isn't going to the CFP, which is the only certainty about which you should care at this point.

Truthfully Texas doesn't deserve to be in the CFP.
According to the numbers there is an outside chance but it was not anything that anyone around Texas wanted this year.
When Texas is a CFP team we will let y'all know.
Plus we won't be trying to justify Texas' place in the CFP.

Ohio St's offense is not as good as OU.

Only position Ohio St is better at is RB.

Haskins is a statue in the backfield.
I cringe every time he runs the ball.

Haskins did spend some of his childhood in Maryland, so he should make every Texass fan cringe. Your quarterback can run a little bit when his hat doesn't fly off, but he has a noodle for an arm. Texass' best chance to beat Oklahoma is to take out Murray, who doesn't like to be hit at all. If he's upright to end the game, then you'll see more upside down horns, and your fourth loss.

Some Ohio St couldn't wait until JT Barrett left
For....
Haskins. He might end up being a good NFL QB but he lacks the leadership and athletic ability of Barrett.

If you have the DBs to cover Ohio State Haskins is a sitting duck in the backfield.

Truthfully....
Don't know why y'all want to be in the CFP.
You will be embarrassed.

If Ohio State wins on Saturday, then I'll be happy, as the Buckeyes will be headed to either the CFP or the Rose Bowl, as you will be gearing up for the Alamo Bowl. Nobody gave Ohio State a chance in 2014, either, so keep hating, and one day Texass may actually make it to a CFP for once, and not known as the school that does the least with the most. Maryland won't be on your schedule in 2019, so that's a start.

Bama was a much different team in 2014.
You forgot that Ole Miss exposed Bama earlier in the season.

Tom Herman and Ohio St just followed the Ole Miss blueprint.

This all ultimately goes back to Kliff Kingsbury when he was the OC at A&M in 2012

Bama is passed that.
Truthfully...
You need to force Tua into mistakes and really force Bama to open up their offense.

Ohio St is not the team to beat either Clemson nor Bama this year.

Nick Saban would have made a wonderful old time General...

Why?

He sees issues before they occur and has backup plans.
He saw the issue with Bama this year and made sure that team could run the ball.

Bama was on the verge of becoming too dependent on their QB.

If Jalen Hurts was the QB Bama was a sitting duck.
Saban saw this last year and coached up Tua at the end of the season to be ready.

Truthfully I think you have to out Bama Bama but running the ball on them is not easy.

Ohio St is not a great downhill running team right now.

You're forgetting one factor. Georgia beating Bama and both OU and OSU sit at home watching another Alabama vs Georgia title game.

You're repeating yourself in multiple threads, T-Bone/Allen, and every college football fan on Planet Earth has been told by the talking heads what you keep posting, over and over. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, then we'd all have a Merry Christmas, but none of this has anything to do with WVU, so you're trolling.

About that noodle arm...

Watch Ehlinger vs Texas Tech.
One of the best displays of accurate passing I have seen 15+ yards downfield.

Ehlinger going to end up being a NFL starter.
He is smart enough and his leadership skills are out the window.

OU hasn't crushed the No. 4 team in the nation, which had the nation's best defense until Dwayne Haskins shredded it, either. Ohio State killed Baker and the boys in Norman in 2016, which is just as irrelevant as what Baker did in Columbus in 2017. Still games left to played on Saturday, so we'll see. #LivingVicariouslyThroughOU

Again, #LivingVicariouslyThroughOU. Ohio State lost to a bad Virginia Tech team in 2014, and it didn't stop the Buckeyes from winning the first CFP Title.

Again OU didn't lose to Purdue by 29
One score does not make a pattern, but 29 to Purdue is a real body-slammer, just like WVU losing to Iowa State by 30-14 didn't define the Mountaineers' season.

And Notre Dame skated with an easy schedule, as WVU did in 1988 when it played TWO teams with winning records. But undefeated Power 5 (by proxy, includes Irish) teams should be in the Football Final Four. ND lucked out. Michigan was a wimp to beat. Northwestern, in the Big 10 title game, is like Iowa a few years back and wouldn't survive the Big 12 schedule.

I'm moving on to Huggins Heroes and WVU's bowl game. Everything else bores me by comparison.

Just like every post you have ever made here.

Yep...why do they even come here...I really don't get it. Maybe it makes them feel better about their teams (not WVU) in some weird way, I mean they got their own boards to beat their chest on, where they can interact with the same like minded entitled fans right?? GTFO!!!

We were in the conversation with 3 star athletes all year. OSU, TX, OU get 4 & 5 star athletes every year. I say we have much more upside than all of them and do more with less year in and year out. Proud of my Mounties!!!

.....
I will agree with Rootmaster.
In the 70's Ohio St had some of the greatest teams ever created.
Oklahoma has the longest CFB winning streak.
It will never be touched.

Texas has two of the longest winning streaks in CFB including the most recent one having arguably the GOAT team in the last 30 years.

True WVU fans will pray for your miserable soul. Studies show that optimists out-live pessimists. We'll pray for you at your funeral, too, because we'll still be around enjoying life and the Mountaineers. God bless them!

Optimism doesn't include delusions of where WV belongs.

Having outrageous expectations is what is hurting a lot of programs right now.

Nothing wrong with expectations just as long as they remain within the confines of reality.

Pretty much WV should compete for Conference championships but there should not be anything more than that until they prove they can actually win the Big XII.
