Yeah, imo, that guy shouldn’t be a teacher. If he was, say just trying to discourage his students from signing up, it’s still an opinion that shouldn’t be allowed to be expressed by teachers. He obviously doesn’t respect education. One of the biggest problems we have today is how the teaching profession is viewed.
I went back to school and took on debt to get my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, because I respect the profession and felt it deserves to be treated with seriousness. I was constantly told how stupid my decision was.... “no money in teaching”..... “those that can’t do, teach”. When society treats the position with such disrespect, the best people aren’t going to be taking the job.
I definitely think teacher pay in America hirts the system. Some bright folks want to be teachers and make the sacrifice to do it. If all teachers were like that it would be awesome. I think we need to find a way to encourage people who can graduate college and make 75k in a cutting edge field to also teach or volunteer if it can be made productive to students. I dont know how it would work.
I am definitely not a liberal dem. Never have been. But if calling out your friend for racial slurs paints me as a liberal, I am fine with that.
