Please read Sled's post. It wasn't about you, it was about Mr "jump all over the page,OM." The teacher said our military were not the cream of the crop, were not smart, were stupid. I have to think that it is somewhere on the internet. He said it in the classroom to his students. He is obviously hispanic.

I don’t agree with him. I also think that views like that being talked about in the classroom should be grounds for termination.
I wish there was less demand for young soldiers. I wish there were less soldiers that are discharged with severe mental issues.
But I respect anyone that serves, I respect those that excel in the military. And I think that the military teaches serious life skills that make men and women better people overall. And it goes without saying — yet I’ll say it anyway — some of the greatest minds in our nation have served and are serving now.

Position of influence over youth. The freedom of expression from the teachers position in the classroom is r steictikn for the good of education and the student. Those that do not respect that, shouldn’t be allowed to do it any longer.
If he was quoting a study, or analyzing an opinion piece in the paper even while allowing counter viewpoints to be addressed in equal effort, than it would simply be controversial, imo.
I think what he said was dumb and I dont understand why he thinks marines are beneath him. Some of the finest and most influentual people I know are Marines. People say dumb things all the time. It is sad when they say it to young minds like that. Education is a pretty big issue in the country and they need less of that and more STEM.
