Obama called slaves "immigrants"

Uh Oh! And he said this before Carson. Libs mocking Carson are hopefully in love with crow.

Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson was roundly criticized by celebrities like Samuel Jackson after he referred to the slaves from Africa as immigrants with dreams and hopes for their children’s futures.
But President Barack Obama used similar language to include African-Americans descended from slaves among the immigrants who helped shape America.

Here is Obama in 2015:

Certainly, it wasn’t easy for those of African heritage who had not come here voluntarily and yet in their own way were immigrants themselves. There was discrimination and hardship and poverty. But, like you, they no doubt found inspiration in all those who had come before them. And they were able to muster faith that, here in America, they might build a better life and give their children something more.

Here is Carson:

That’s what America is about, a land of dreams and opportunity. There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandsons, great-granddaughters, might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.

The Libs trashed Carson until they found out that their Savior said almost the same thing.

Carson is about as non-politician as you can get in a heavily politicized world. He was essentially saying the same thing Obama said. But phrased it in a manner which linear simple minded thinkers get enraged over.

My advice to him would be to stop and think long and hard about anything he's going to say, and then don't say it.

Not sure what you mean. Obama referred to slaves as immigrants. Libs and the media said not one word.

Carson says essentially the same thing and is vilified.

It's called media corruption and hypocrisy.
What I mean is...ok good point Obama said similar...however the link listed by myself indicates the guy is all over the map historically ...National Guard troops on the Northern border? For f'n what? A shake of hands? That is the kind of **** that gets him mocked....

Thanks for posting this PAX. The silence from the Left criticizing Obama for saying the exact same thing as Carson that drew their (Left's) contempt will be further evidence of their utter hypocrisy and phoniness on this issue.

You don't live in the U.S. so I'll give you a pass. Conservatives are regularly vilified, mocked, called nazi's, racists, xenophobes, etc. by libs and the corrupt media.

This is a perfect example. He said what Obama once said, essentially. Obama gets a pass. Carson vilified. Both black, both accomplished. Maybe you have to live here to see the media treatment and how one side is held to a standard the other side is not.

And by the way, Obama has said some very stupid things and again got a pass. For example, he said, while at a San Fran fund raiser, middle Americans cling to their guns and religion. If he were a conservative, OMG, the media would crucify him. One small example but very, very typical.

Carson is a brain surgeon. Not a politician. Brilliant individual. Worked in the private sector unlike Obama.

Carson could lose 50 IQ points and still be smarter than Obama. Yet the left picks up on something like this, crucifies him and now they learn their anointed one said essentially the same thing. Embarrassing.

I can't stand the Left and their complete fake, phony, disingenuous, hypocritical, two faced, duplicitous, sanctimonious, counterfeit, self righteous, dishonest, deceitful, lying, hateful attitudes about Race.

They disgust me more than Evil itself because they are the personification of it and so diabolical they happen to be the biggest racists they can ever accuse anyone on the Right of being. To them, it's only about the acquisition of raw power and politics, they don't give a damn about Blacks or anyone else of color that doesn't agree with their warped, twisted, discredited ideology.

They're totally nauseating, including the ones on this board who today raked Dr. Carson over the coals for his honest commentary trying to describe how Blacks have overcome Slavery in America yet their silence criticizing Obama for essentially making the same commentary is worse than deafness itself.

Every time you're on here defending and deflecting for your chosen ones, they are out apologizing and explaining what they really meant. Give it up. Carson has already backtracked and you're still whining how unfair it all is. lol

Ben Carson rushed to clarify his controversial comments comparing slaves with immigrants seeking a better life, saying the two experiences should “never be intertwined.”

“The slave narrative and immigrant narrative are two entirely different experiences. Slaves were ripped from their families and their homes and forced against their will after being sold into slavery by slave traders,” Carson, the newly installed secretary of health and human services, wrote on Facebook Monday evening.

He continued: “The immigrants made the choice to come to America. They saw this country as a land of opportunity…The two experiences should never be intertwined, nor forgotten, as we demand the necessary progress towards an America that’s inclusive and provides access to equal opportunity for all.”

Who made his comments "controversial"? Libs and the corrupt media. Obama said the same thing and NOTHING from the media. NOTHING. The media is completely corrupt. Lies, deceit, holding one group to one standard and a completely different standard for their non preferred group. The good news is that this is changing. Many more media outlets. Main steam media no longer trusted. The scales are becoming more balanced.

Dems have failed the black community since the mid 60's and the great society. They have created enormous dependency. They have created environments where schools no longer educate. They have helped create a culture where women are encouraged to have more children without fathers in the home. Crime is running rampant in Dem controlled cities. Dem controlled cities create very few jobs for African American men. Hope is a thing of the past.

One day, African American will awake and realize they are worse off today than decades ago. Dems are racists for their degree of Low Expectations.

I think his emotions are very, very genuine. He has seen his community virtually destroyed by Dem policies. I am not saying the Dems have evil intent, they don't. But the policies they pursue end up killing the patient. And yet, they continue to pursue those policies for votes and power, while the people suffer. And worse yet, some leaders of the community are all to willing to sell their people down the river to maintain their own power and authority. To heck with what actually works, or provides a better education, or provides real jobs, or provides real hope, we have to destroy anyone that would bring about change.

BTW, I noticed that you never answered his question. Hmmmmm!

I've never laughed so hard than I did the other day when airport and priddyboy commented on Pelosi and her fictional "visit" to an OB/GYN.

Airport said "you'll have to open it up first to find out what's in it" (hilarious)

Then Priddyboy said (I almost can't type it I'm laughing so hard now) "You'll need a jackhammer and a dust mask" (pee inducing hilarity)

You avoided my point completely. As you admit, Obama has said and done some really, really stupid things. Yet, he gets a pass. Why?

Carson, in this recent example, said almost exactly what Obama said, yet the media only vilified Carson and ignores Obama. They are both black. Why the different level of treatment? Why is one absolved and one vilified?

Carson, as I pointed out, is not a politician. He says what comes to mind and is now always politically correct. He may not phrase something as delicately as a politician. But he is anything but an evil man. He is anything but corrupt or stupid.

So, to quote you, quit ducking. Why is Carson treated differently than Obama?

You missed this post earlier today.

Yes to both.

“A lot of people who go into prison straight, and when they come out they’re gay.”

“My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain. Now all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs’ graves. But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it. And I don’t think it’d just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain.”

“Well, that’s easy to answer: I didn’t have an involvement with them [Mannatech]. That is total propaganda. And this is what happens in our society — total propaganda. I did a couple speeches for them. I did speeches for other people. They were paid speeches. It is absolutely absurd to say that I had any kind of relationship with them. Do I take the product? Yes. I think it’s a good product.”

“The pledge of allegiance to our flag says we are one nation under God. Many courtrooms in the land on the wall it says ‘In God We Trust.’ Every coin in our pocket, every bill in our wallet says ‘In God We Trust.’ So if it’s in our founding documents, it’s in our pledges, in our courts and it’s on our money, but we’re not supposed to talk about it, what in the world is that? In medicine it’s called schizophrenia and I, for one, am simply not willing to kick God to the curb.”

“But it is true that we are probably giving way too (vaccines) many in too short a period of time. And a lot of pediatricians now recognize that, and I think are cutting down on the number and the proximity in which those are done, and I think that’s appropriate.”

“I do not remember this level of scrutiny for one President Barack Obama when he was running for president. In fact, I remember just the opposite. I remember saying, ‘O-o-oh, we won’t really talk about that.’ Why are you guys not interested in why his records are sealed? Can somebody tell me why?”

[laughing]

I can only surmise he is worried about Canada's lax immigration policy and worried about potential terrorists coming across the border. As we have seen, immigrants from Minnesota have crossed the Canadian border very recently. So border crossings do occur.

Now answer my question. Why the difference in the treatment of these two African American men by the media?

HUH? They are going the other way! WTF does Ben even care in that respect? Does he want the National Guard to bring them back? Not to mention the fact this was said months before the latest crossings from the US to Canada. This is your explanation? Cmon man...you are more crafty than that...

Wow! You should seek professional help. This isn't healthy.

countryroads89 you have vilified Trump for being "a racist" and never have explained what makes him so? You've accused me of "voting against my own interests" in casting my ballot for Trump, and you've never explained to me what you meant by that insensitive ill informed remark?

I've asked you to explain why the Left opposes school choice vouchers for poor Black Parents who support their use by wide margins and you've never answered me.

I've pointed out to you that Margaret Sanger is a revered icon on the Left, but also an admitted eugenicist who advocates the extermination of little Black babies to rescue the White population from the scourge of Black poverty and asked you why the Left still idolizes her?

I've mentioned to you how Congressman John Lewis routinely makes bi-annual campaign promises to his impoverished Atlanta district, yet each year returns making the same promises to his constituents having no results to show for and asked you to show to me just one of his major accomplishments.

And I've challenged you to explain to me why Trump's minority outreach (through Dr. Carson and HUD) to bring jobs, capital, and entrepreneurship to economically disadvantaged inner cities is not a preferable solution to the Left's failed 50 year experiment of mass wealth income redistribution through deficit spending and confiscatory taxation?

You have never even bothered to either supply a response, or the courtesy of a simple "I don't know" to any my questions to you, yet you were among the first on this board today to accuse Dr.Carson of being unfit to hold Presidential office.

You went to considerable length and time (presumably) to find and post various statements of Dr. Carson's you mistakenly believed made him out to be either bizarre or worse, yet when PAX posted comments Obama has made similar to Carson's supposed gaffe, you've not only failed to equally criticize him, but you insinuated he is in fact superior to Carson in intellect. A fallacy by any objective analysis.

You're nauseating.

I have told you before, and I believe it now moreso than ever, that you are indeed a bonafied, qualified, quantified, certified, magnified, identified, metastasized, amplified, glorified, sterilized, undignified, correctly classified, RACIST !!!!!!

I challenge you with every inch of my indigenous Black skin to prove to me otherwise you reviling, revolting excuse of self immolating racial bigotry and hatred.

What a crass hypocrite you are countryroads89! You are an embarrassment to the entire Mountaineer Family.

HUH? They are going the other way! WTF does Ben even care in that respect? Does he want the National Guard to bring them back? Not to mention the fact this was said months before the latest crossings from the US to Canada. This is your explanation? Cmon man...you are more crafty than that...

My point on Carson's comment is that Canada has lax immigration. It is entirely possible (as evidenced by recent border crossing of Minnesota immigrants into Canada and no, you can keep them) that migrants/refugees/immigrants can gain access to the U.S. by crossing the Canadian/U.S. border. Perhaps that is of concern to him. After all, Obama promised us that our vetting was much, much better than the rest of the worlds (ergo, Canada's is not as good as ours).

Now, one more time, answer my question. No more excuses.
