A 2 state solution, which I support, will never happen until the Palestinians recognize Israel's right to exist and actually sit down at the negotiation table. Secondly, it won't happen by U.N. decree, it must be negotiated. Remember, Arafat ran away from Clinton's negotiated agreement where the PLO got 97% of what they asked for. Why? Because the Palestinians want to destroy Israel, not live side by side. I think Israel is prepared to give up the settlements as part of the peace negotiation, but Jerusalem is non-negotiable. Jerusalem should be accessible by both Arabs, Jews and Christians, but the land belongs to Israel. The Arabs made a horrible strategic mistake in 1967. They threatened war, amassed their soldiers on Israeli borders, told Israel they would wipe them off the map. In 6 days, Israel moved Egyptian forces back to Egypt, and essentially destroyed Syria and Jordan. Israel also captured all of Jerusalem. When wars start, the defeated generally lose land. Certainly true in WWII for example with Germany. And the Arabs lost land.

Iran is arming Hamas with the billions we gave to them. An intifada is certainly possible and made more possible by this action on the Administration's part.

A good President would have reached out to Trump and asked him if these decisions would follow inline with his policy. Obama is out and there is a massive change coming. This is really bad form on the Obama whitehouse.
Past Presidents have worked with the incoming administrations to ensure nothing that occurred during their lame duck period would impact the incoming administration's plans. One more example of what a failure Barry is as a leader.

How is Trump hurting the process? He simply told Israel that things will change on January 20th. Obama is a lame duck and everyone knows it. Policies change with new administrations.
Peace won't be achieved by a U.N. resolution. It will only be achieved at the negotiating table. Palestine has refused to meet to negotiate. Trump is rightfully telling the world that his administration does not agree with Obama and that on January 20th, things will be different. What Trump will do is anyone's guess, but he is being honest.
Congress has already started a defending effort for the U.N. Dems as well as the GOP are on board in condemning the Obama administration.
I am no middle east expert and surely not a Biblical scholar but it seems that throughout my lifetime, Israel has been the party willing to concede at almost every turn and the Palestinians were the party that preached, and practiced, the destruction of Israel. Why Obama has chosen the path he has, only he knows I guess.

I don't think so. Israel tried capitulation time and again. It only made matters worse. They've leaned hardline with limited results. I think the only thing that will work is to place the Palestinians in full and imminent existential crisis. As stated above the Palestinian Authority or ruling government must recognize Israel's right to exist first and foremost. Trump recognizes Israel must have the full and undivided support of the US to accomplish peace.
Even many democrats who love his domestic policy consider Obama a foreign policy failure.
