I thought it ended when Trumplethinskin was elected.
Unfortunately the red commies at the ACLU are still around:

Officials in Knightstown, Indiana, removed a cross atop the town's Christmas tree due to a lawsuit from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

The town council elected to take the cross off the tree Monday because they didn't think they could afford fighting a legal battle against the ACLU.

The lawsuit was brought on behalf of resident Joseph Tompkins, and it alleges that the cross violates the establishment clause of the First Amendment.

Dang....Trump has something to tweet about today. He'll get to the bottom of this.

A public space that is part of the government should be neutral in terms of religion. If bible thumpers could ever get it through their thick skulls that simple fact and would respect the thought this country isn't just for them, this foolishness would end. But it won't. Idiots will be idiots.

Even though I'm atheist, I still think this stuff is ridiculous at times. On the one hand I can kind of see their point, but I don't agree with it at all. Christmas is a Christian holiday, so I don't see the issue with having a Christian symbol on one of the key symbols of the Christian holiday.

Some people need to find a hobby ... or a woman (or man, if that's their thing)

Separation of Church and State.....the overlooked pillar of American ideology. I mean, the second admendment that guarantees the right to bare arms (forget the portion of the admendent that says for the purpose of a well trained militia) can't be even remotely infringed upon, but ALL of us should bow before the cross?

So any religion could conspicuously put their special religious symbol on a key public building on their special religious holiday? Would everyone sign off on that?

Actually, Christmas is derivative of the pagan celebration of the winter solstice. So....let's not let Christians claim everything. The spirit of the Holliday is about bringing people together, put up a santa or a rain deer or a star or a snowflake or a snowman, and let's have some cider, get lit and love one another!

Great point. This is what Christians miss all the time. If it was any other religious symbol, Christians in that town would flip their little lids! Well said

Maybe someone should have put up a tree beside it, topped with a crescent and a star.

Would a drunken orgy in the town square be allowed by the town? Or the ACLU?

One coment.....
When this nation was formed, states had at least 1 formal state religion.
One of my ancestors as 1st Governor of the state of Mayland was the first to sign into law "freedom of religion". In order to get it passed through the legislature, he had to meet and get approval from the Quakers as they would lose their stature as the official religion.
In other words, chill people. Work together, not sue each other.
Oops, my bad. After all, that's the theme of the holidays, isn't it?

I think this stuff is funny ....atheist & Christians fighting over a stupid holiday.
Christmas has less to do with Christ than a good old-fashioned ***** house.
I think all believers in God should walk away from it ...I believe Jesus was born unto a Virgin, I believe in the Holy Bible & not once does it say to adopt a pagan holiday in my name .

I say yes. Live and let live.
I'm sure the Christians would be in an uproar though, which just shows their hypocrisy

& a Christian majority, a big reason why hillary lost ....

Yes, good to see Christians voting for the values of their faith...bigotry, racism, misogyny, violence towards others, lying, stealing, cheating, adultery, lust of the flesh, pride of life, love of money, etc. etc.

Proverbs 6:16-19 ESV
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

I think Trump covered six out of seven.

I like the dramatic effect......
I was more or less referring to your lack of understanding of the significance of said comma in the 2nd amendment and the well established arguments laid out in the Federalist papers with regard to the intent behind why the 2nd amendment is in there.

Another argument for another thread for another time.

Walk down the street with a cross on your forehead....put up a crèche in front of your house....your space your beliefs. Once we start talking about PUBLIC space, leave religion out of it.
But, you do believe in Freedom of Speech?

They just voted for the least of the two evils. She has 7 ...
