He might put us at risk of scoring too many points. 🤣
We’re already exceeding the goal set before the year to barely crack the top 100 in scoring. yay

My honest guess would be injury or performance in practice. He’s already burned his redshirt, right?
He does look smooth out there, but there’s also blocking, etc.

If he was injured he would be showing up on the unavailable for game list

Has he burned his redshirt? If so what a waste.

Well there’s still 4 games left. But if we don’t see much of him in those games then yes, a wasted year of eligibility. That being said if he’s as good as Rhule thinks he won’t be here for 5 years anyway.

ESPN game log shows 3 games played.

If accurate assume we see him in once more this year.

Coleman has 4 games available so be interesting to see if he is in rotation here on out.

Given that banks is average in passing game at best and couldn't block a middle school player in space hoping we see him next week, atleast in blocking role.

If he's not injured we would not want to overwork him as a true freshman.
I mean, he's already caught 8 balls in 8 games.

It wouldn't be right to find out if he's capable of having a freshman year like former 4* Brock Bowers who had 54 catches in a 14 game season. Kinda seemed like the more they used him, the more productive he became. The more the defenses focused on him, the less they focused on everyone else.

With WR blocking being a problem, would Malachi Coleman help?
He couldn't be any worse than what we've had. Unless it's some kind of discipline or grades issue, I really don't understand why he's not playing. Same with I don't understand why IGC can't see the field at the WR position. He was decent the one year he actually got PT, and I don't remember blocking being a major issue with him. That whole group is just a mess.

That makes sense. Game log must be tied to receptions.
I looked on the PDF that has Husker game and individual stats and couldn't really see anything that Malachai had done this year.

I hope that young man figures out a way to get and stay healthy as well as the drive it takes to give himself to realize his potential. If he were healthy, motivated and wanting to improve his future, he could be a total effing matchup nightmare for DB's.

I'm really pulling for him given the way his life began.

If blocking was a requirement we wouldn’t have anybody receivers out there

Could really use Coleman’s speed on the outside. Take the top off of defenses a couple times per game.

So you are making the assumption the options would be better? But yet you don’t really know?

It’s like the 2nd team QB, he is always a star and should play more.

1. He's only played in 3 games, so he can still redshirt this season.

2. AGAIN, you only "burn" your redshirt after you have played 3 years and 5 games the 4th year.

3. If he's really good, he's not coming back for the 2028 season anyway.

Rhule is strategically redshirting kids to both maintain eligibility but more importantly to develop and protect the younger players bodies until they are more mature, while giving them a taste of football this season. I'd rather have Nelson stay healthy, develop physically, and have 3 great years than play him now for a full season, have him get a Taylor Martinez type injury, and then plod hurt through the next 4 years including a later redshirt because of injury, like Teddy.

Who knows where Teddy and Fidone would be now if we had kept them healthy their first year (I know that Fidone barely played in 2021, but what would have been different if they had not been preparing him to play then?).

Don’t care about kids that aren’t good enough to play yet, though I’m sure he’ll be a dude down the road.

He’ll have plenty of time to prove himself at Nebraska if he wants.

He also had the opportunity to early enroll, but didn’t.

I suspect there’s something else limiting Coleman. Academics?

Thought Coleman was in on some special teams in one of the earlier games

The ability to play football is limiting him. Great great athlete but not a difference making football player yet. I went to more than one East game when he was there where I didnt hear his name the entire game. A guy with that frame and that speed should have dominated Nebraska state football. He didn’t. At least one of the major newspapers didn’t even name his First Team All State. I hope he gets better. Again - great athlete.

We've seen those options play before. And they add something we haven't seen this year. I like Banks and Neyor in certain matchups, but if they both can't block, it's really handicapping our offense when they're both out there.

So coach, tell us who is better and should be out there. You painted yourself into a corner.

I don't recall either IGC or Coleman being as bad at blocking as we've seen from the starters. They also were able to get open no less frequently. Again, we keep banging our head against the wall expecting the same damn thing which hasn't worked to work somehow, but of course it doesn't... Maybe it's time to try something different for once.

Apparently CN has barely played football up until now. Not sure what we all expected.
