Eichorst was running the program, not Mike Riley. And you and your cohorts pounded the table saying it wasn't true, and then it ended up coming out that it was indeed true. Eichorst was trying to do what Barry Alvarez did at Wisconsin, but he was a punk and a loser.
Why should people be beat up about this? Trev is doing all the university needs. Sports is making money. He’s lined up donors for $200mm+ capital campaign. Ed Lynch of the cubs never really produced but stayed GM for cubs cause he was making money.
As much as you all like to hide this, college football is a big business. The minute ticket sales drop, NU will drop Trev. Right now he’s golden. A business man. That’s his job. As a fan, I wish it was different but can’t blame the university. Trev knows how to make a losing fan base think things are OK

you are the one who brought up Eichorst, as if to say we should hire a cheap guy like him.. I told you why we should not
You said “you and your cohorts”. What cohorts? What did I have to do with hiring Eichorst. You’re the one bitching about paying our AD a competitive salary. You don’t just go hire Joe Blow attorney to be your AD because he’s cheap unless you’re Harvey Pearlman. Alberts is UNIQUELY qualified and competent to be our AD regardless of the football and basketball teams’ records.

I'm not against TA. I didn't bring up Eichorst, you did. I do think there is fraud going on with the stadium renovation, and said as much on this board. Now we get a 2x+ salary double and all this public info.. I find that interesting.

There’s way more to the job than that and it’s WAY too early to judge his football hire. Not many people give a sh## about basketball. It’s hardly a flagship program. Alberts is the perfect AD for NU. Get used to it. He’s going to be at NU for a very long time.

He’s uniquely familiar with everything Nebraska. He’s uniquely closely aligned with the state’s power brokers and large donors. He’s a football guy. Please tell me why he’s not a perfect fit as our AD?

Its kind of amazing how much time poor people put into bitching how rich people spend their money. Trev nor Rhule is costing anyone on this board basically anything, a handful of big check writers are ok with the buyouts in case these don't work.
To add, the Big Ten is going to be the premier football league in the country… we need solid stability as we climb our way back.

I think some of these guys just think the price sounds a little high. I got a couple quotes recently to remodel my pool house that seem high too. Pretty sure it wasn't fraud though. Construction costs are through the roof these days.

You would be wrong if you believe no other schools would want to hire Alberts. You don’t have to look far to our east to find a school that would have loved to have hired him this past year. This new contract has been in the works since then.

Well yeah, season tickets that used to cost a substantial part of someone's income can now be gotten on Stubhub for 10 bucks.
I kind of thought it was cool when we came out playing Sirius and then seriously deflowering the opponent.
Now you count how many plays it takes before we throw a pass 20 yards past our reciever. It's all entertainment I guess.
I asked someone who works at the stadium what was so wrong that we need to start over with the South Stadium. Bathrooms and better access to the other sides were all they could come up with.
Plus, they need a new popcorn machine. That ice machine is making a funny noise too.
Again, they did an extensive survey of ticket holders and interested parties. Renovating South Stadium was one of the priorities identified along with concession and restroom access therein. It ranked right up there with seat backs and wider seats.
The AD looked at what was feasible to do and determined that tearing it down and starting over was the best option. I have no doubt that luxury suites will be part of the design as well.
Apparently the money is or will be there or they wouldn’t have announced it. There are a lot of baby boomer alums about ready to assume room temperature. I’m not a fan of spending money on stadiums but I’ve been told I’m a cheap bastard.
