A home night game. Pregame speeches are an overrated thing. Summoning emotion is a limited ploy. Games are won and lost in the spring and fall camps and in an individuals drive. Was that before the Northern Illinois game?

In 95, Colorado came up with a plethora of emotional antics before the game. Nu' s first offensive play Green took it to the house and then we proceed to take the Buffs apart.

Would you have preferred Urban’s pregame speech? “Now go win this, so I can grind on all the bar ****** I want!”Minnesota game?
Of course you doEh. I like Kirby’s f bomb speech better
KD is a fan
No fear of failure ... a different approachWould you have preferred Urban’s pregame speech? “Now go win this, so I can grind on all the bar ****** I want!”
It’s not about firing them up, it’s about get ting them to play without fear.
1000000000000%. Anyone minimizing the emotional aspect of football must've never played. Nebraska hasn't won the mental side of the game for years. Rhule gets it.Assume northern ILL. Loved the speech and the fire. People poo pooing pre game motivational speeches? Come on....this is one of the greatest things about sports. If you aren't motivated by stuff like this I kindof feel bad for you.
To an extent. My coach in college was one of those guys. It worked on freshmen but even then only for a couple of games. After a while we'd be laughing at it -- here he goes again! It loses it's effectiveness quickly1000000000000%. Anyone minimizing the emotional aspect of football must've never played. Nebraska hasn't won the mental side of the game for years. Rhule gets it.
You literally made an account last September just to take a shot at Trev, turtled for over a year, and then finally stuck your neck back out to make *this* your 2nd post? Can’t wait to see what kernel of brilliance you’ll have for us next fall.“I had my first team meeting last night. I’m one of those guys, I don’t let cameras in, there won’t be a camera following me around,” said Rhule. “I want it to always be (about) the players.”
I think it just depends on whether it’s authentic. They’ll sniff it out if it’s phony but it works if it’s real and connected to how they’re feeling at the time.To an extent. leaked ending of that clip
^^^. All the stuff he talks about are the principles he and the staff are trying to build on. Focus on each rep/not the score. Leave it all out there with your brothers. Have each others back.I think it just depends on whether it’s authentic. They’ll sniff it out if it’s phony but it works if it’s real and connected to how they’re feeling at the time.
This is a sentiment shared by many pros, as well.To an extent. My coach in college was one of those guys. It worked on freshmen but even then only for a couple of games. After a while we'd be laughing at it -- here he goes again! It loses it's effectiveness quickly

That's the key, it can't be every game. This is a sentiment shared by many pros, as well.
I don’t get the feeling Rhule does this before every game, though.
Kind of odd to me that he would give such a fiery and dramatic speech before playing a mid-level MAC team at home. That's the key, it can't be every game.
I think that’s kind of the point to me. As a leader, he’s gotta know the right time to do it and so he sensed they needed it. Hopefully we finally have a head coach with his hand on the pulse.Kind of odd to me that he would give such a fiery and dramatic speech before playing a mid-level MAC team at home.
You didn’t win many games, did you?To an extent. My coach in college was one of those guys. It worked on freshmen but even then only for a couple of games. After a while we'd be laughing at it -- here he goes again! It loses it's effectiveness quickly
This is the kind of thinking that is 10 years out of date amongst Nebraska fans. We were 0-2 and have no business assuming that any game is a W. Nebraska can easily lose to a mid-level MAC team. Maybe that's why Rhule did it, to send the message that no game is a gimme.Kind of odd to me that he would give such a fiery and dramatic speech before playing a mid-level MAC team at home.
Actually, we won most and were nationally ranked. If that stuff works for you, great. I and my teammates were plenty motivated without itYou didn’t win many games, did you?
Meh?FIFY
Over your head.Meh?
Not a big inspirational speech maker are you?
Try, meh, if we die, we die.
He didn't want to lose the team. Right time, indeed.I think that’s kind of the point to me. As a leader, he’s gotta know the right time to do it and so he sensed they needed it. Hopefully we finally have a head coach with his hand on the pulse.
