Do we win it this year?
Doesn’t matter the middle school Texas boys teams will always be better. That’s all that needs to be said of the level of women’s sports.

I admit, I know little about this squad beyond their bitching for "equal" pay.
But is it really the coaching and tactics? Or is the team 1) quite long in the tooth and 2) simply being caught by these other countries that are now giving a **** about women's soccer and not allowing us to steamroll sub par competition.

I fully admit it could be coaching and tactics but I think theres quite a bit of 1&2 also.

The reason I lean towards coaching being their biggest issue is for a variety of reasons. Before the 1st world cup match, the starting 11 had never played a single match together. Your guess is as good as mine as to why the manager would elect to do that but whatever, it was against an overmatched opponent. Their second game, the coach decided to start the same 11 as the first game and then made a single substitution in the final 10 minutes of the match. They looked awful the entire match and he only made 1 sub so does he not trust his bench that he selected? It's match 2, how can you not trust your bench in match 2? I didn't watch the third match because it was midnight my time when it started so I won't comment on that one beyond they apparently looked just as terrible as the first two matches.

Another huge coaching blunder is the way the roster was selected. You have multiple players playing out of the position they're usually playing for their club teams. I fully admit they had unlucky injuries in the last few months leading up to the world cup so that might've played a part in the roster selected. But it is odd that you're resorting to playing forwards as defenders while then putting other defenders in completely different defensive position with limited time to gel as a unit. It seems apparent that no one knows what their role is whether on offense or defense and I believe a lot is due to the roster selection and management.

The other problem is simply the strategy. They have been sloppy the entire tournament passing the ball because they're always going for the proverbial home run ball instead of tactically working the ball up the field. When they get into the final third, they are basically relying on one or two players to make incredible individual plays because they have such a non existent possession game. It's total boom or bust. Against the best teams in the world, that strategy is not going to work. Teams have realized they're too reliant on individual skill over team play. So they collapse multiple defenders onto the player inside the final third and it results in either a poor shot attempt or lost possession since the US has no coherent strategy to tactically work the ball around for a good shot.

I've coached girls soccer for decades and for the first time since Brandi Chastain and Hope Solo I just don't give a ****. Almost all elite players in any sport have an ego.....comes with the territory. The cancers on any team are the ones that can't/won't handle their egos. It tears up locker rooms. That's how I feel about most (not all, but most) of this team. They can bark at the moon for all I care.

Megan be like “I hate America, so racist and unfair. Also, give me more money!”
Aren't we fans of the "program" that has paid 100 million in buyouts over the last decade to a bunch of grifters, nuts, and manipulators and we are going to complain about an actual champion wanting more money. Did you know our current guy will make 12.5 million a year if he makes it as long as Bo did? And will make a top 10 salary if he makes it as long as Frosty did. College football coaches are the biggest frauds around if you are counting production vs. pay. Our last 5 coaches have made millions off of the exploits of others, while literally causing the program to lose popularity and attendance to plummet. In what industry do people get raises and paid more when fewer people show up? Maybe our fans should worry more about the people running their favorite program than some woman who plays a sport they don't even watch. Love that donation sign next to memorial stadium, nice look for a terrible program being run into the ground.

From the little I've seen it looked to me like his offenses were set pieces with little improvisation. That can work at lower level soccer but to pig-headedly stick with it at the world cup makes no sense.

College FB coaches are not bitching about equal pay. And you are "worth" what someone will pay you.

There night be more Miami soccer fans now than any other club (in the States) after what Messi has done the last month. Granted the dip in competition is huge here but it's still super fun to watch

They still only won in a shootout and that's with Messi having Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. All older but played together a ton.
I don't think the MLS is as bad as the euro snobs want to think it is

I can count on 1 hand the amount of MLS matches I have ever watched and I've been to 1 in person. I think the biggest strike against the league is the defense is really poor

Yeah. I'm not saying it's a great league, but God himself coming to the league and scoring at a good clip, and many were saying that it just shows the entire league is ****.
But agree the defenses need some work.
It doesn't help that any good American goes overseas to prove themselves.

She must not be a defender on the team. 🤦‍♂️

If she wasn’t happy about it hope she made it clear as soon as she could
As clear as somenone on her position could I think. Apparently this creep was kissing multiple players. So gross
