He is kind of like Riley...Riley answered every question, talked about dudes that were hurt, was super open and honest.

I agree with all that. At UT Casey only won 4 games. Whipple was the worst OC in team history and did zero to win games, he was only concerned about his stats.

But, the QB is to lead the team. Casey took too many sacks and could have looked for more check downs. He needed to find a way to find the open player. He throws a great deep ball but not very good with intermediate routes. I hope he does well at FAU and can break that streak of only 4 wins.

Zac Taylor was a great QB with average skills. He managed the game and played inside himself.
Whip didn't even want the job but when you are about to retire and someone goes "Hey, do you want a two year contract (that you know will probably just be one year but you will still get paid for two) and more than double the highest you have ever been paid?"

How do you say no? Whip knew he was only going to be in Lincoln for what, 6 months?

And was tougher than nails.

Go rewatch the Taylor big 12 championship game.

The Big 12 POY didn’t play good in the Championship game, so he didn’t throw as well as the guy that just led us to a 4-8 season? Um…OK.

That season, Zac threw for 3,200 yards 26 TD’s and 8 INT.

Last year Casey threw for 2,400 17TD’s and 10 INT.

I like Casey. I defended him on here countless times (like when Nikki said he couldn’t be a good leader because of his haircut). But he was a small QB, with and average arm and has never made it through a season. I sure hope Sims can give us more than that, if not it’s going to be another year without a Bow Game.

Zac had a better O line and OC than CT. It’s apples to oranges.

But that OL wasn’t good. And they were just awful the year before, when he was still better than CT.

Zac was a baller. He came into a bad situation, stuck it out and had some success. But he took a beating along the way. I just don’t see how one can compare CT to Zac Taylor or Joe Ganz.

You better go look at Taylor’s O line again. He had several NFL guys in front of him. It’s just impossible IMO to compare the 2 situations. Taylor was a warrior. CT was too imo. Zac IMO had a better supporting cast.

He had Slauson and Murtha, who ended up in the NFL, but they weren’t very good in 05. Zac took a beating that year.

I remember Joe Ganz as the underdog recruit who showed up all his critics. I just can't forget all the vicious heap of criticism he got from fans on the message boards when he was recruited. But it really made me feel good when in the end he proved them all wrong.

It’s really hard to drink the Ervin kool-aid. He has looked so bad at RB. I really hope he has turned the corner. And what really scares me is that it doesn’t sound like he won the job as much as it sounds like Grant lost it due to fumbling. But we need Ervin to be head and shoulders over what he’s been in order for us to have a shot this season, if he is the dude. I don’t mean to hate on the kid.

He’s a fantastic young guy. But he just doesn’t perform when the lights turn on. Hope I’m wrong. Spare me the clip that he ran 3 dudes over. He’s good for one or two runs a game. but we need more than one or two good runs. We need someone to run the rock. And yeah his line hasn’t been great. But he has done a lot of it too himself. Almost like he doesn’t have rhythm.

But I love Rhamir as the 3rd down RB. That excites me that our staff sees that. It’s so freaking obvious and blows my mind that Frost and Mickey couldn’t. RJ is going to play in the NFL for a long time because of his pass blocking.

I guess I don’t share your opinion of Ervin. He’s a big fast hard running guy who has been taking care of the rock in practice. I thought he was pretty good last year before he got nicked up.

we share the opinion above. We definitely share that much. Yes. He’s all those things but unfortunately that doesn’t make him a good back. Processing the game vs Misreading the development. If you aren’t looking at that, then I’m sure he looked nice to you. Let’s not pretend, we both want the kid to win a heisman. 😀

But I need to see him beginning to read things. Until we see that; all the speed and size don’t mean a thing. can he see the field developing? Until he proves it to me, I’ll question it. I did with RJ and he proved it in my opinion. He’s fantastic but at one point I wanted him to move back to NJ. Hopefully GE brings good things to life. : )

I saw a lot of getting hit behind or at the LOS last year by all of our backs. I’ll wait to judge him this fall with this OC.

Fair. But come on the “GE brings good things to life” was extremely witty
GE is a power back. I want to see him break that first tackle then I’ll worry about his vision. I don’t think we’ll be running many stretch plays where “vision” is primary on the skill set.

He was a red shirt freshman last year, had 60 yards against OU and then hurt the next game and missed four after that. What exactly is the bases for saying he looks so bad at RB? He also played under a **** show of coaches
