Open container and driving drunk at 1:30 am seems a lot out of the norm for a man in his position unless he has an alcohol problem. Isn’t he married?
Why the **** do you think he was out at 130 and drinking???

Of course he is married.

Don't act like this was a one time occurrence. Most times it's just that they finally got caught.
It is the 1000th time, for sure.

I can only imagine how many times me and my friends drove drunk.

****, I golfed OCC a few weeks ago, started at 1pm was done around 5ish, no chance I was not buzzed, no one in our 4some was not buzzed.

Lol if you really think his resignation was not the result of a conversation with Rhule before hand then you’re unbelievably socially inept. Yowsers
If a friend took a chance on me and gave me a job at at a blueblood and I screwed it up before the first fall practice then I would offer my resignation. Having a first year HC deal with an assistant going through the court system during the first season of a rebuild? After we just had a head coach with supposed drinking problems. And the interim HC was arrested.

Sucks for everyone involved but I'm assuming Rhule hired adults and they wouldn't be dumb enough to make Rhule fire him.

Yep, VERY few cars on the road that late. He stuck out like a sore thumb with any erratic driving
It was 1-3O in the haymarket there are quite o few cars driving around including Ubers which he should have been in one.

Ehhhh, this would be a 2 minute "court case" where he would probably not even have to appear, it would be a 3 month suspension and 6 months probation.

Assuming it is all his first time. It would be done and over in 10 minutes.

I have two friends that only do DUI's and they LOVE it...1000-1500 dollars for about 25 minutes of work.

LJS, OWH, ESPN, Hail Varsity.... probably don't cover these 10 minute court cases. Talking about a guy who has zero college coaching experience. Like I said, sucks for everyone involved but Wager and Rhule are smart enough to move on.

Hal..how long do you think it lasts?

He pleads guilty or no contest, the and that is that. It is over.

So maybe we need to view this as progress. Last coach was fired for beating his wife. This one for DUI.

I don’t drink so maybe this is a stupid question.:..if he refused all the tests then how do we know
His level?
First, start drinking

Secondly...sounds like that he refused the insane tests so they took him to a hospital and they drew blood OR he blew...but did not take the tests.

I believe they take you to hospital to draw blood.. some attorneys say you should always say no to field test.. others say you shouldn’t 🤷‍♂️
I think if you are drunk they say you should refuse because it takes a more time to get blood drawn and could lower your BAC.

Whether or not he should be gone or not. It's really really easy not to drive after drinking. I just don't get these people.
I think the problem is that when you're inebriated, you're not in the right state of mind to make those easy decisions.

Yeah like maybe he drove there thinking he would just have 3 drinks, but turned into an all night bender.. didn’t want his car towed so he risked driving home?

It will raise it...not lower it. The shot you take at 12;04 doesn't kick in until 12:20 and it doesn't leave your body until 5am

You think he was going to have a hearing and be sentenced on Monday or something? You're talking about Rhule dealing with that nonsense for a couple months. I know your a big fan of drunk driving and I'm guilty of it plenty in my youth, but it's not worth it. Guy messed up, time to go back to Texas high-school football and spread the good word about Matt Rhule and Nebraska.

Yup.

Doubt many are thinking that though (because booze makes you not think straight) which is why saying "it's such an easy thing to not drive" may not be all that true.
I respectfully disagree. I was really stupid in highschool and college. But I believe you hit a certain age where you can process these type of things and have control of ones actions.

Not knowing his story what so ever maybe there is an alcohol fueled problem with him. I don't know

It will be in court in 30 days, maybe 45.

Which means there will be 1 more "big deal" for the local media.
