Damn! Robert Wagner was on staff? That SOB could carry a prime time drama.

Huskers.com bio shows Martin is from Texas. 4 years as SMU TE coach and a year as ASU's TE coach. Was a high school assistant in Texas last year.

Wow

DUI shouldn’t preclude anyone from coaching IMO

Just arrange appropriate accommodations for those who prove incapable

Also - it seems Rhule’s media days rhetoric ring true right in our own backyard. Need to get program respect back to a place when an inebriated coach received an escort instead of a citation

Yeah he wasn’t out committing sexual assaults B1G style, so give him another chance.
The B1G guys who sexually assault their players were allowed to continue coaching for decades despite innumerable complaints against them to university leadership

People make mistakes and I don’t hold ill will, respect him resigning to take negative narrative off the program, maybe it wasn’t his choice but this is **** you can not do In your position. It’s not hard, call a friend or Uber.

Sad news. I don't know anything other than what I've read in the news but I imagine Rhule said something like, "We can't tolerate this while we're trying to rebuild a certain culture around here. Sorry."

I would assume he resigned so Rhule wasn't put in a position of making that decision.

Whether or not he should be gone or not. It's really really easy not to drive after drinking. I just don't get these people.

Driving after sleeping less than 8 hours in a 56 hour period is much more dangerous

I will need to see details (BAC) before passing judgement

Disagree (what’s new)
That's because you seem like the kind of person who would keep showing up to work and file a lawsuit even if you were in the wrong and your boss was a friend. Based on what I've read about Wager and Rhule, I think Wager wouldn't want to distract from the upcoming season.

Why’d he wait until Rhule got back from media days, then?

Why not resign the day it happened?

“Earlier this week I received….”

UGH!

We’ve become pros at this stuff. Hope no one got hurt and hope he bounces back from the mistake.

Sad, but necessary. I am 100% certain that every coach knows the expectations, and when they have a personal failure of this sort, their fate is sealed. Really no room for negotiation. And that is how you set a standard and build a culture.

If X, then X. Sorry for Coach Wager, but he made his own choices and now has to live the consequences.

It is crazy to think and I have said this before, but if you go out to happy hour after work with co-workers, you have driven home buzzed or drunk or both

Now, before the perfect posters attack me with bible quotes and stories about how their van filled with orphans was hit by a drunk driver and everyone died, including the poster who is now posting from heaven and the drunk driver lived and got off on a technicality, I am NOT saying it is some great thing to do. Just saying that it is probably super common.

Well, sure! But truckers fixed that issue by just taking a bunch of speed! Problem solved!

He's a grown *** man. He should be able to do that for himself. Yes, I agree, if its a known problem you should prob try to make it not an issue by being proactive.

Shoot, just create a position, a "driver" job, for a current student that is basically like an intern and a gopher,

Take coaches to the airport, pick them up if they need a ride, pick up their kids if they need to be picked up.

****, back in the day, maybe still today, executives had a car service.

He was popped at 1:30 in the morning with an open container driving around. If the .15 BAC is true. That could result in a felony.

1:30 am is a good time to be popped but not in a car with one open. He’s got a problem that Rhule didn’t know about when he hired him.
