My opinion - Bo Pelini was indeed maxed out at Nebraska. The very definition of the Peter Principal. He did not want to do the ancillary jobs required to be a head coach at a place like Nebraska, like recruit, glad hand boosters, kiss babies, make appearances etc... He just wanted to coach football. Which is fine if you are the coach in Anna, Texas. He had little to zero people skills. Not everyone likes their boss, but you deal with it and do your job. He thought he was too principled for that.

I also think the guys that exaggerate his accomplishments, are comparing those accomplishments to 3 guys that were 3 of the worst coaches in Nebraska history. Looking back, is easy, but at the time he was let go, I am not real sure there were a whole lot of people that were calling for him to stick around. Like I wrote, looking back and we will gladly take the 9 wins, but he wasn't hired to just win 9 games. He was hired to win conference titles and play for national titles and he failed at that mission. But now when we compare him to Callahan, Frost and Riley, he looks like Nick Saban.

Hazing happens EVERYWHERE. Hazing is part of sports IMO. Hell in high school freshman got swirlies, stink bombs in lockers etc... It builds comradery if it is happening to everyone. If it is directed a one or two kids then I get it, but that is not "Hazing" that is bullying. I just don't get how Hazing is so bad, as if it is part of the culture?

I guess where I am going with this is how is it a "Fireable" offense?
Are you serious? Have you read details? If this is normal hazing to you wtf kind of teams did you play for?
Ill give the benefit of the doubt to you that you havent seen or you dont believe the details of said hazing.

As smart as Northwestern faculty, staff and students may be, it is ridiculous that hazing still exists. Universities banned the practice before many of you were born. Fraternities and sororities are typically independent corporations so it is complicated when universities make policies like ”no hazing.” But frat houses are often suspended or permanently kicked out if they don’t address hazing. Why a university-controlled entity like athletics would think they can duck the “no hazing” policy is nuts. Sounds like some administrators above athletics may need to follow Fitz out the door.

Cross you fingers that NU admin hasn’t also been asleep. As for those of you that don’t understand why it’s a fireable offense, forget the fact it is prohibited and just watch the multi-million dollars go out the door to pay off the students/former students lawsuits that are sure to be filed. What Northwestern may be able to avoid paying Fitz will instead be going to the complainants.

The hazing I went through as a pledge was basically cleaning, learning about the history of the house, taking a "fake" test about the house history. Oh and being told that we sucked as pledges. That was really about it.

No dongs in our faces or fake raping. Sounds like these NW players really got into it! Hahaha

I have only read about the Car Wash at Northwestern, which I think is freaking hysterical. A line of grown *** men, lined up side by side swinging their dicks as players entered the shower. Last I checked, all of these players had showers in their rooms. They would have had to choose to enter the shower. Now if they did it upon exiting the shower, it would only happen once and I would be showering at home the rest of the time.

I don't want to come off as insensitive to the situation, no one should have to deal with this stuff, but anyone who went through it more than once, well that is a them problem. Stay away from fat guys doing fat guy stuff.

Also, I am fairly familiar with what went on in Lincoln in the mid 90's, if you don't think the Peter boys and their crew were doing some gross *** **** with bodily fluids, you are sadly mistaken.

Tuco,
I think it was forced, and a high pressure hose was used once they passed through the scrubbers.

Was in an SI article I read today, I believe.

Boys will be boys, but this is not that. This is not 1994 either. Perceptions have changed.

You can cross Dave Wannstedt off the list of potential coaching candidates at Northwestern.

I suppose.
In 1988 I was tied up in the shower of my residence hall at CSU. 3 guys, two on CSU football team.
I am a big guy, pretty damn strong then, but nothing I could do.

I was carried down to central commons, naked and tied. A 480 person residence hall.

I calmly untied myself, and started walking back to my room butt *** naked at 7am. An RA brought me a small towel to cover. 1988.

These days it would be felony sexual assault

Perceptions have changed. It did not harm me other than a rope burn on one arm.

I smiled and proudly walked back to my room.
Never let someone know they won in a prank.

It is a fun story to tell these days, has nothing to do with NW, but about how our perceptions have changed.

1988, harmless prank.
2023, felony sexual assualt.

So, I do suppose what happened in 1994 with the Peters, was percieved much differently 29 years hence.

Kick them out of the B1G. The little 12 is open for business, perhaps they will take them.
I think nw is supposed to be the start ones (so folks say) they should go to the Ivy League, then replace them with nd...there's no sence having alot of chicago schools around, expecially when the new stadium is only 30k...

that way the big has 4 spots to get to 20 teams, and can bring in oregon, houston, miami and nc...
this expands our footprint into alot better recruiting territories then the rust belt..

Why is everyone misspelling "repressed closeted gay homosexual ****" as "weirdo fat guy ****"?
