If they want to make a move, this would be a good cover to do it with.

This whole thing kind of feels like an excuse to move on from Fitz.

The coaches didn’t know, but could have discovered it? OK.

Compared that to the Iowa coaches who ignored and covered up coaches abusing their own players, and their AD did absolutely nothing.

Has any coach gone from near the top of the ladder to the bottom faster than Fitzgerald?

With NIL (and how bad it is at NW) they may STRUGGLE hard to ever make a bowl game. If you remember NW before the mid-late 90's when they started do make a few bowls you remember how horrible they were.

Any coach taking this job (when it does open) is either padding his retirement fund for a few years or literally on LinkedIn the day the takes the job, already looking for new gigs.

Like I said in another thread.. fitz should have bolted when he was a hot name. Always strike when the iron is hot.

Odd timing... One would think if that were true they would have done this at the end of the season... if this is the case then this is a sacrificial/lost season... sounds almost like what happened with Frost when NU didn't fire him the season prior...

I actually have a lot of respect for the guy... I'm sure he'll end up somewhere decent... I think he'd do well in a Big12 school... perhaps Houston if they truly do move on from Dana and their new conference

Pretty bizarre honestly. It definitely seems like the type of thing a program would do to get the ball rolling on firing a coach, and I know NW was pathetic last year, but Fitzgerald's overall results have to be pretty close to NW's ceiling. It'll be interesting to see how this all unfolds.

I think that says the coaches weren't supervising sh*t and consequently things got out of hand.

The only way not to get fired for most coaches to to do exactly that. This is especially true for high school coaches who coach at those schools that have administrators who won't stand up to the parents.

Sounds like a few more lazy kids that can't or refuse to do the work, but doesn't want his scholarship pulled. ... I think the entire Alabama team is being hazed right now, but you won't read that article anytime soon.

He signed a 10-year extension in 2021. So, I don't think they will be firing him any time soon unless they have a really good case for firing him with cause.

What’s Wilbon going to say on the matter? Protect his alma mater or be as outraged as possible
“I could see this culture cultivating at a new B1G member like Nebraska. Let’s wait for the facts to come out at NW”. —Wilbon (likely)

THIS???
Northwestern Wildcats hold the record for the longest losing streak in college football history, having lost 34 games in a row from 1979 to 1982. The Wildcats ended their losing streak by defeating Northern Illinois Huskies 31-6 on September 26, 1982. The Wildcats' losing streak was the second-longest in major college football history after Columbia's 44 games in a row during the 1981 season.

Too bad, I like Fitz. Was also hoping we can keep some of these coaches in the West if we are able to start winning again…selfish reasons, of course 😬
