I don't know. Strength of schedule has to play a role. We have a really soft schedule so I'd expect us to win more than Auburn who has to play Georgia, LSU and Alabama plus some other pretty stiff competition. Also, the state of the program they took over should factor. Colorado should be a much bigger rebuild with a 1-11 team than a 7-6 Wisconsin. Not sure how you quantify it, but I think it's more than just number of wins.

No. it was based on the fact that a buddy of Shanle’s from his days in New Orleans got sent packing from Carolina Rhule’s first year there. It was all personal vendetta based on a buddy losing his coaching job.
Welcome back, how was the vacation?

Wins.

No one ever cared about strength of schedule when we were winning. I believe strength of schedule is what losers lament.

Wins are the currency of success.

Hahaha yeah because that worked so well last round. Who did he want? After Frost, there wasn't anyone even remotely qualified. And Zac Taylor wasn't walking through that door.
I think all Shanle would say is "someone better". Maybe he gave specific names, but I don't remember him ever doing so. To be fair, I think he would allude towards Mickey Joseph as to who he wanted. But with that, Shanle dogged on Rhule for not winning more than 53% of his games nor winning championships. If that's the threshold then why would he want Mickey?

Shanle did say, "Frost didn't win fast enough, early enough." Uh, how about win at all?!?! Haha!

All in all, like @dinglefritz said, I believe it was a personal vendetta against Rhule because some of Shanle's friends got their feelings hurt by Rhule.

For Shanle to come out that strongly against Rhule, and then never try to explain the why, who, or when, protecting his own flank/buddy/grudge, was a puss move. He might even be right, who knows at this point. But get off the damn radio if you’re not actually willing to talk.

He sure shut up when Rhule embraced former players and TO. To be fair, Rhule is an outsider who isn’t going to make everybody happy. That said, I have no doubt that Rhule would welcome Shanle on the bus if he decided to hop on.

In case Scott Shanle reads this

Hey Scott, why don’t you just shut the **** up. What’s your coaching record? Yeah don’t get yourself disowned from a fan base that really doesn’t even know who you are. The only reason you’re relevant is by bashing the guy who is more qualified in every facet of life. Thanks for your playing days but either get behind Rhule or get outta the way and eat the words you’re gonna choke on.

It had to be something that involved King Kong, right?
Nope,
He did it entirely to himself. A bunch of us were reprimanded a week or so earlier. I did heed the warning, if that can be believed!
Those that did not are the reason for new pinned post at top of page. More than a few seem to have been sent to time out.

You are completely wrong. T.O was in hot water precisely because the big 8 north teams were sometimes very bad.. for a decade or more of his career Colorado, K st. Kansas, Iowa state, missouri were AWFUL, TERRIBLE. He fed on doormats but then lost often to OU and a southern bowl team who was faster. For whatever reason a talent surge moved north during the early 90s and Kansas st, Colorado became good teams and NU dominant while OU fell apart. But for most of T.Os career he and the program were criticized for a soft schedule and losing to the only good teams on the schedule, the September Power 5 matchup, OU, and the bowl game.

In way over a decade on this board I don’t think I’ve ever said anything derogatory about a moderator…..
I caught a short lived posting ban from a pretty harmless comment in that thread.

Strength of Schedule was not a factor back then and Osborne owned OU in the 80s and 90s

I feel like they must be looking for certain people because I’ve blatantly been breaking ze Führer’s rules and haven’t had my wrist slapped….yet
