Last week he said he was looking forward to coaching his team. That seemed to trigger a lot of people.

I think a lot of it is just who he is as well, I am sure there has been some "coaching" from Trev, it would only make sense to tell him the main talking points and right now the media, most of them, will toss up those softball questions and statements, but it is really like he is just a Husker fan that ended up as the Husker coach.

I think one of the reasons Trev wanted to hire him so bad is he knew Rhule is a mature, polished adult who doesn't need to be baby sat. Has to free up a lot of Trev's time to have a football coach who is self-motivated.

If trev has more free time he sure as hell isn’t using it to make the basketball program any better

I don't know if this is just him or if he has PR people working for him to help him shape the narratives he wants to convey. I suspect it's a bit of both but whoever it is they have done a phenomenal job of marketing him to fans and recruits. Masterclass

Trev is his boss, what good boss would NOT help out his hire as much as possible. That makes no sense. It is not some nefarious act for your boss to want you to succeed, You don't think him and Trev have talked about Husker fans and the things that are important to the fan base??

Imagine thinking that you just made the biggest hire of your life and you don't ever talk to them about the place where you played, where you were an AA, where you essentially grew up. He is not TELLING him what to say, he is going to talk about the culture of the fanbase.

Why are people thinking that is bad?

The guy is smart. He understands people.
I believe and hope you are correct but he did not fare will in Carolina. Fully realize some coaches are meant for NFL and some for college. Guess in a few years we shall know how this is all working out. I am excited but hard to forget the last 20 years.

It's not really worth discussing his NFL stint, but I would say the jury is still out on Rhule just because he hopped from a G5 to a P5 to the NFL pretty quickly, so it's not yet certain that he can sustain the 10-win seasons he accomplished at Temple and Baylor.

His problem in Carolina is that he didn’t control his roster and a couple of his assistants were guys forced on him that he couldn’t work with. QB was and still is a problem for Carolina and he had little say in that.

I think expecting sustained 10 win seasons probably isn’t reasonable. I believe Rhule will quickly get us to 8-9 wins and probably pull a 10-11 win season sporadically.

I agree. We will get to Pelini level quickly but the talent gap will show against elite teams like Ohio state. But the longer we are better the more talent we will reel in and that can change. We have a real leader. Everything he does and says has intention and itll make a big difference.

Because he "gets it" I disagree with those saying we will turn on him after his first loss. If we have another 3-4 win season and we are playing sloppy that's another story. I just cant see it though

We shouted down a poster on here who was warning us about how disorganized Frost was and how he was a mess. Vrzal called it a dysfunctional mess on the radio this morning.

Rhule is extremely organized and a great communicator. His ceiling will be how well he can recruit to NU. JMO

I'd be fine with that myself, but definitely can't speak for everyone.

We’re 8-point dogs, 2:1 or so outright

Vegas thinks it’s likely (I do not)

I see this game as a push... Home teams usually get 7 points in college, leaving 1 point to play with. NU had Minn dead to rights last year until Whipple got smarter than the HC. I look for NU to win by two scores...

It's not like Rhule just fell off the turnip truck either. It has been apparent since he got here, that he knows people, and could probably help Trev a bit in the people department. Ask Mike Denney about that one.

I'm just not getting my hopes up, expecting a slow start but would be super pleased with a win.

I have never been more confident in a new coach than I am with Rhule. And I was pretty stoked on Fraudst.

Ahhh, now I got it. Still pissed about UNO wrestling that no one ever attended.

I will leave you to that, you guys will never get over that.
