Monken and Doeren are Riley like mediocre hires. If one of these guys is hired it tells me that Trev could not get a bigger name to come. I have thought that every since he said last week he was surprised how much interest there was is the head coaching vacancy. That is a lot of smoke from Trev that means he is getting rebuffed.
Yeah like wtf, how could you be surprised by that? There's still tons of good qualities about Nebraska and Trev needs to be selling his *** off and making the candidates understand it's a program that can return to greatness. Hopefully I'm wrong, but there's so many signs Trev wasn't cut out for this job.

I think Luke gives me a boner

The rest not so much.

Monken would be amazing if he came here and ran the triple option for 2 reasons.

1. So many Husker fans think TO ran the triple option but he didn't
2. It would be amazing to see them embrace it until it did not work and then freak out.
I think it would be a shame if the best thing Huskers can do is coach from Army. That is Trev’s answer to bringing Nebraska back? Wow! How embarrassing. 2022 and some people think you can be relevant running the wishbone in the BIG. Hey, anyone of these geniuses, please show me one perennial Top 20 team that runs the option. Why would a bad team such as our’s want to reinvent the wheel? If he is hired I am going to assume the Huskers goal is to continue the same sh*t show we have. Battle Rutgers, Northwestern and IU for last place.

I don' t know, there's a lot of smoke that Rhule was the guy, but that the deal fell through just this past week. Hopefully that's not true, but if it is, then Trev is left scrambling.
We have no idea. No doubt IF Rhule is his first choice there has to be some brinksmanship to arrive at a package. I believe things are going to be fluid until someone is inked. IF we all think this is driving us nuts, imagine being in Trev”s shoes right now. There’s tremendous pressure from multiple directions.

Has Jeff Monken always run option before his current job. An option based RPO attack would probably work at NU if we developed an O line.

Seems like Monken has done pretty well at Army, well maybe not this year, but overall. Getting good recruits to West Point can’t be easy given their entry requirements. To be fair, I haven’t really followed them so I could be wrong.

It would be disappointing. But I'd rather watch us running a triple option offense than watch the other biting offenses of the west, I'll admit that much lol

The day Monken is hired will be my last as a Nebraska fan.

You really think he would run the triple option at a power 5 school? Wow, how embarrassing.

He's said in multiple interviews that he would not.

If we got him and he didn't run it, and fails? Woah. A lot of angry folks would be demanding to know why not...

If we hire him for whatever reason, he better do what he knows and excels at. Might as well and embrace it. Can't get much worse... Lest we get kicked out of the B1G, which I don't see happening anytime soon anyway...

I don't think I'd be very happy with that hire. But at least we'd be getting a guy that wrings every bit of talent out of the kids he's got.

I think when someone like Trav says he is pleasantly surprised how well the coaches he has contacted view the Husker head coach vacancy combined with no one being hired, is code for no coach has made it clear they will accept the job.

Oh my gosh, could Klieman come to NU AND bring AM with him for one more final season?!?!??!

I’d be okay if it turns out to be Klieman, but I’d rather he bring Will Howard with him!

obviously would never happen, but having AM come back and beating the breaks off of Colorado in week 2 of 2023 would be poetry.

He’s a fifth year senior this year. He won’t be playing college ball anywhere next year.
I wonder if he has a shot in canada football, or something like that. I know he doesn't have the nfl arm...
I'd give frazier or crouch the tough running award..and taylor the straight away running speed award..
but adrian could run like a deer for a first down when it's 3rd and 7

Oh, I just think he means he was pleasantly surprised despite nebraska being a dumpster fire for at least a decade there are still a lot of coaches interested in the job.

Trev seems like a pretty straight shooter.

We can NOT sign a coach yet. IF we get past the conference championship games a week without a signed contract, THEN I’ll worry

Why can’t they sign a coach? When they fired Frost There was clearly a job opening created. Alberts stated they were looking for a head coach, surely they listed the job or whatever silly requirements needed to be done, at that time.

I would really be worried that Monken is the next coach if it isn’t announce after the CCG games next Saturday..

I believe we have to relieve Mickey of his duties as head coach first. Look at the names we’re talking r about. All of them are under contract still except Rhule and his agent is likely squeezing us for 8 for 8 years. This deal isn’t really that tough to figure out. It’s contract brinksmanship. Rhule’s agent won’t blink until he thinks we might hire someone else. He wants to get paid. Patience

Look at Rhule’s statements. They’re leveraging the fact that he doesn’t have to take a job against our desperation to hire an experienced coach.

Mickey is the interim, that is a temp hire. His contact to be WR coach is the only one that matters as far as employment goes.

Who are your 1 and 2?

Urban Meyer being #1 - He's not coaching right now so if I was the AD I would not be doing my due diligence if I didn't at least ask. His record should require no further explanation.

Hugh Freeze being #2 - He has turned every program around he's coached both before and after Ole Miss. This is a highly experienced yet young head coach proven to win. He can recruit anywhere in the south. He has a 70+ win%.

Luke Fickell being #3 - Has a 70+ win% has turned Cincy around and has done it there 6 years. Less proven than Meyer or Freeze is why I would slot him #3.

If I were AD I would chose coaches by track record of win%. I would seek out coaches who suck then succeed then suck, or succeed then plateau last. I'm not looking for a Cinderella hope and pray it fits even though dude was blah or sucked and maybe i hope that the name "Nebraska" magically makes them better. I'm paying a proven winner to win football games not to win moral victories.

Winners win, it's not complicated.

Good post
I’ve had too many lawyers for friends and family. Been involved with lots of real estate transactions too. Just a reasonably good guess at what they were going to hold out for based on Tucker’s deal. It’s insane but I guess that’s the market.
