High probability the original tweet contains 100% speculation. Every syllable.

If TA doesn't have his guy signed and sealed by now, this is a dumpster fire of epidemic proportion.

And there's no reason for that to happen. As horrible as the on field results have been, this program has a ton of things going for it.

If you make millions of dollars a year like DeBoer, Seattle is a great place to be. It's beautiful up in the Pacific Northwest. I'm sure he lives in a great neighborhood that is isolated from any of the problems there.
Not to mention not every American sees the country through the prism of politics and culture wars. Only on message boards do you read inane crap like some backwater meth-infested hellhole in Missouri is better to live than the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Unironically.

Which is really, really stupid.

I would be pretty disappointed with the two kansas guys

all the others on here are intriguing

I've been on this board going on 19 years. I joined after Solich was fired. I've been through that search. The Dave Wannstedt and Houston Nutts, players wanted Bo, then hiring Callahan.
Then the let's get Bo or Turner Gill.
Then the we hired who? Mike Riley.
Into the we finally got our savior in Frost. He turned out to the the worst hire of all of them. I'm not jumping on any hype trains or that guy sucks trains until I see some results. Good or bad. My advice. Let it play out. Give whoever a fair chance. And always... GBR!!

This.

Will be excited to see anyone try to wrangle these kittens. Turn them into lions. Would be pretty pumped to see Fickell. Didn’t even think we had a shot but maybe …

Well at some point it is what it is...FWIW I called Lombardi, Shula, Tom Landry, and Madden and it went to voicemail so I guess we have to settle a bit.
Fwiw, I tried reaching out to Bob Devaney... but he didn't pick up either.

I would assume out of that list you would only be excited for one.

That would be Fickell. But even he isn't a "big" name.

No?
One can assume you don't follow football. Klieman, Fickell or DeBoer would be great hires. If Trev and the gang were on the ball, we probably could have had DeBoer last year and would not be subject to this year's charade.

in my case, that would be correct

Fickell's a huge name - the #1 wishlist guy in the country for 3 straight years
So Fickell should not count on Ohio State or Notre Dame jobs opening up anytime soon. unless Day is interested in the NFL, he's going nowhere. That said, very few of these college guys to the NFL workout anyways, so I'm not sure if the teams are interested in him.

If Notre Dame wanted Fickell they would have hired him when Kelly left for Baton Rouge..

Yeah the reddit board has Fickell as the hire.... Would be a solid fit
This would be pretty sweet. Not too old, can relate to younger guys, good recruiting network in Ohio , Kentucky and Pennsylvania. Would get the chance to test himself against Ohio State and Michigan with a team that has serious resources and a commitment to football. Would probably see himself as a good fit with Trev as his boss. Plus, Lincoln is a big Catholic town. That was an important consideration for Bo Pelini.

He's the one guy that we haven't speculated a ton on, but I think the fans would overwhelmingly be positive about him.

But then we wouldn't know about the wonders of Mickey, so it worked out perfectly

But I thought Trev had his guy all along? This makes no sense. Just an elaborate ruse to throw people off. Or it's part of that massive charade and cloak of secrecy since we know everyone wants to come coach at Nebraska. No one says no!

If Trev doesn't have a new HC under contract already that would be a major blinder in my book.

1st choice Rhule
2nd choice Rhule
3rd Leipold, Fickell or BOB

Why is there so much talk on the radio today about Bronco Mendenhall???

I would rather have Rashad Mendendhall.

Why would DeBoer leave Washington for Nebraska?
Salary is currently quite low and Nebraska is a better football program historically. Also Deboer has midwestern roots. Don't know how true it is, but a poster in that area of the country claims the administration at Washington could be overwhelming if not of a particular affiliation.

Exactly, I mentioned Deboer as a potential candidate last year had Trev pulled the trigger. Could have had him for cheap too.

I agree that Washington is currently the better job and Seattle would be a better place to live. You just asked the question why he would come here, I was just trying to provide some possible answers.
Seattle? Maybe, MAYBE for the fishing. That’s it. Soon will be Portland or LA.

Really? I guess I'm not most people. I like walking around a downtown where I don't have to step over a guy passed out on the sidewalk in a pool of his own urine.
It’s getting that way here in Lincoln. But that’s what the bleeding hearts here keep voting for

Totally agree, but the fair chance part is a pipe dream at this point

Even rock stars with endless women and money would rather die than live in Seattle.

I think after 5 years of rock bottom ****, we as NU fans will be a little more patient. Right now, I'd be happy with consistent improvement, 6 to 8 plus wins and a bowl. Then build on that.
I hear this on Twitter as well. What short memories we have. Settling on 8-9 win guys that never get us over the hump or winning the big game is what got us here.

Agree. Klieman would be a great hire.
This coach can build a team up and develop both lines! He knows hard nose football players and the special skill players will follow! I mentioned this name when he was winning National championships in his division & developing Qbacks! He has connections & knows his ****!

Fickell would be a home run. I haven’t thought of him much because everyone is convinced he won’t leave Ohio.
The only real HR hires there are and there are only really 4. Saban, Dabo, Urby and Kirby Smart and all others are 2nd tier and lower.

Fickell and Klieman's agents are working to get their clients big raises/extensions. Hard to see either leaving.

If we're down to Monken and Doeren, God help us.
Monken and Doeren are Riley like mediocre hires. If one of these guys is hired it tells me that Trev could not get a bigger name to come. I have thought that every since he said last week he was surprised how much interest there was is the head coaching vacancy. That is a lot of smoke from Trev that means he is getting rebuffed.

FWIW Cinci’s recruiting rank last year was 38th with a 24 player class…..
Guess that makes him a pretty good coach and someone that has done a nice job of identifying talent. Let’s give him an opportunity with a bigger recruiting budget and get after it.
