Instead of raising themselves up, they want to tear us down. Like you touched on earlier...about how it's better to be heartbroken in November instead of August. But they try to say everyone's a failure if they didn't win the National Championship.

If you are going to go by the AP, OU & Nebraska only have 11. The Big Ten, not counting the 1947 post bowl AP vote, has 12. And of course there are NCs predating the AP poll.

The introduction of two platoon football is a fact. When the "modern era" began is an opinion. And I did not agree to limit our comparison to only the modern era (whenever the hell that began).
of course you didn't. you're a B1G fan. you want to count stuff that happened in the 1800s as to why the conference is competitive in 2022.

The Big Ten was not in existence in the 1800s dummy.
And blue blood success from decades past is why Nebraska still has a chance to turn its program back into a national power. Deep roots of success matter in college football. That is why in 20 years, USC has a better chance of being ranked than Oregon. Bama has a better chance than Clemson. Texas a better chance than Baylor.

No. That would be the precursor to the Big Ten. The Intercollegiate Conference of Faculty Representatives.

As for all of the talk about the best conferences, take this to the bank (play on words), just like everything in this country, everything comes down to MONEY. The B1G haters on this board are in for a rough time in the near future as the B1G keeps gobbling up all of the huge TV markets from coast to coast and the payouts are - and will in the future - dwarf everybody else.
There's a reason Finebaum -on his show - and many others were upset when the addition of USC & UCLA was announced. Oregon and Washington are trying hard to get into the B1G bringing in the Seattle and Portland markets.

The point is that almost all of the dialogue on these boards are opinions. Cold, hard cash - to the tune of $102 million to each school in 2024 - is not opinion - it's FACT. Just means that this conference - that some on here gripe about - must be doing a ton of things right IN ALL COLLEGIATE SPORTS.there it is! B1G fans just can't resist
Did I mention $102 million to each school yearly. I'm sure if Nebraska wanted out, the conference just might be able to find a school to replace it.

I actually really like what Michigan has this year. Last year had a lot of star power, but this year just seems like a solid TEAM. Top to bottom. I guess we will see how it transpires, but Michigan looks pretty salty.
Promising so far, but way too early. Seven sacks was nice to see last Saturday even if the opponent was suspect. If the defense gels, we could make it back to the playoff.
Agreed. Who do you think wins out between McNamara and McCarthy? I would say you stick with McNamara as he is a winner.
