Seems if Whip isn't interested, Mickey next logical.

I just hope when this shakes out, they keep Mickey and Vince, cause they are going to bring in a **** load of talent as long as they are here.

If NU were to let Mickey go, it might a cold day in hell before NU got another kid out of Louisiana given Mickey's recognition and connections in that state.
Pretty sure Scott will be allowed to finish out the season. Letting him go prior to that would destroy the players morale, these kids would run through a wall for Scott. He is considered a legend in the annuals of Nebraska Football, to cast him aside would destroy the historical significance the recruiters sold these kids on when being recruited to play at Nebraska. You need to give Scott some time, if "the legend" can't win at good ol NU nobody can.

Yeah but sounds like he's pretty devout, and not all about the money. Read somewhere he turned down like 10 mil a year to stay in Waco where he believes the devout culture is near perfect. But he's a Cali guy at heart, so west coast job makes sense.

Just passing asking what I've read into it. Is freaking love to have him here! But I think it'd be very possible and would be successful to get the man behind his offensive success - Jeff Grimes who has had success everywhere he's been oc.

Real trench man who calls his offense the "reliably violent offense". That is exactly what Nebraska needs along with a solid d. Being a trench warfare guy, I'm confident he understands how important a great DC is too.
I get being happy where you are at...but turning down 10 million when you are making 2.5 million is kind of insane.

That is not just life changing money, that is life changing money for him, his kids, his grandkids and their grandkids.

Not saying he didn't turn it down but that is just such a huge bump up in pay.

You may be right Bleed, but Aranda only makes 2.5 Million a year, so 5 Mil a year for Aranda would be doable.

Plus, Aranda is somewhat proven as a head coach.
Remains to be seen if he could rebuild a broken program like NU.

No doubt, Ruhle has shown that ability, but he seems to get the urge to leave after 3-4 years.
Still goes by 'Rhule'. We've been over this.

Every time I spell it Ruhle, I'll expect to be reprimanded. Make you a deal, though.

IF, and its a big IF, the 'skers sign him as head coach, you give me a pass on the name. Fair enough? lol

(I can see we're both terribly bothered by this...lol).

I don't think Rhule will go back to the college game, unless the Penn State job would open up.

Lol.....yeah that's why my kid who is a D1 potential basketball recruit doesn't want to go here even though I love Nebraska.

Sit the fk down. How may black kids are you around on day to day basis.

I'm around them every day and listen to how they think.

Sick of know it all BS people.
Don't let the corn cobs get to ya. Just think of them like the people from the confederate 150 years ago, they had been beaten and were never coming back, but they just kept telling themselves, "The south shall rise again" even though it never was going to. Nebbie football is the same. The young ones get it, the older ones refuse to entertain reality.

I know these posters.

I've been posting with them for 12 years.

They just hate the truth about the program and the role they play.

It has to be a circle jerk for them or you are a troll.

I think we all know it’s a matter of time now. What names should be at the top of Trev’s list?
I just hope it is not another head scratcher like Mike Riley, but the way it has been going I do not have high hopes. I thought Scott was a slam dunk.

The obvious answer is Chadwell. Triple option with RPO. Downhill running, baby. Not many Big Time programs want the option, but let's face it, it's who we are, and what made us great.

The biggest villain ever was Steve Pederson. Fired a coach to bring in an NFL guy and run the wco. Stupidest f****** idea ever.

Aranda is 14-9 as a HC
Herman is 54-22 as an HC

not seeing why the love fest? Seems like aranda would be a very Frost-like hire

I predict not a lot of takers for the job at Can't Win U.

Even when it was considered an acceptable job you were left on the runway with an empty jet.

Meh try harder. Even with the struggles of 8 yrs. Still top 10 in all time wins. I guess if that is what is called can't win U. I will take it.

Defensive Coordinator for LSU National Championship team.

Year 1, went 2-7. Averaged 23 ppg gave up 29 ppg.
Year 2, went 12-2 averaged 31 ppg gave up 18 ppg.
From Year 1 to Year 2, team scored +8 more ppg on offense, gave up 11 less ppg on defense. (+19 points)

Team lost to Okie St and TCU.
Ended season beating OU. K St, Tx Tech, beat Okie St in rematch.
Won Big 12 title.
Was 4-1 vs. ranked teams. Baylor went 7-0 at home.

Beat high scoring Mississippi (33 ppg) in bowl game holding them to 7 pts.
Ended season on 5 game win streak.

Huskers could do a lot worse.
Lots to like.

In today's world it's considered "Can't Win U" todays recruits could care less what happened decades ago.

I'm OK with Campbell but he seems to have hit the plateau. Personally if both available, I'd go after Aranda.

With stability of bigxii uncertainty, they might be looking 🤔
Offer them enough money and they would come. Anyone saying otherwise is delusional.

I have thought that and said that ever since Solich left. Steve Pederson was the guy who doomed NU.

Its very ironic that two of the individuals (Frost and Pederson) arguably most responsible for taking NU to its current low, were two of the most consensus/popular hires NU's administration has made over the past 20 years. Both Pederson and Frost were Nebraska natives with strong NU histories, brought home to lead NU forward. Its made the disappointment even that much greater, and a good reason why, moving forward, the "we need someone who understands NU" rhetoric needs to be thrown out the door.

B12 doesn’t have any stability issues currently, but Aranda would be a very good hire. I am just not sure he would ever consider giving up Texas recruits to come to Neb.

Are you serious Clark? Your two flagship programs are on the way out the door. You lost Nebraska A&m and Missouri. If any of your other members gets a better offer, they will definitely take it. You're a cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

Biggest obstacle with hiring Meyer would be Alberts, no doubt in my mind.

Coaches aren't as nervous as ADs.

$$ talks and I'm sure we could make Aranda a heck of an offer.

There's more tx talent than there are tx universities and I agree it's probably easier IN tx but not impossible

It's one thing to be making 50K a year and being asked to uproot your family for a job that pays 100K.

It's a whole different ballgame when we're talking 2.5 Mil a year bumped up to 5 Mil. You're talking 50 Mil difference over 20 years. Lotta dough.

We are so pathetic, every name that gets mentioned seems like a much better choice than what we currently have…
But, we have all know that for a few years now. Let’s not make the mistake again of trying to predict who will be the home run hire.. I’ll take anyone at this point
My own personal preference in order:
1) Malzahn
2) Aranda
3) Clawson
4) Leach
5) Chadwell
6) Doeren
7) Kleiman

I didn’t include guys we just have no Chan e of getting like Whiitingham, but he’s be on there too if he were open to move

Leach is an overrated clown. He won’t be hired.

Art Briles should be brought on an offensive analyst. Baylor regularly had one of the top rushing teams with him, they also broke the bowl rushing record NU set of FL.
