I highly doubt that the SEC would do nearly as well in an expanded Playoff. Look how WRONG the basketball predictions turn out to be. Duke and Kansas get beat a lot...and no conference dominates every year.

That's true.

Each decade, almost every major basketball conference wins a couple of titles.

Sweet-16's, Final 8's, Final Four's, Championship Game appearances...beating higher-seeded teams...the Big Ten has done very well in everything except winning the last game.

So by your logic, the Big Ten is the worst conference. Brilliant!

I didn't say the Big Ten was the worst conference, only that it doesn't come anywhere close to living up to the hype that its blowharding fanboys insist on spewing year after year after year.

It's not as bad as the delusional SEC jock-sniffers.

National Championships say otherwise. A ***** conference is the Holiday Bowl UCLABruins Canceling a few hours before kickoff.
What a disgrace. Who ever heard of a team opting out of playing in a bowl game because they would be missing some top players. Oh wait... never mind!

Yeah I would agree that it's pretty pathetic for fans of mediocre-to-bad SEC teams to puff out their chest when Alabama wins a championship. So why do you try so hard to be just like them?

Chip Kelly taught Frost well but not well enough. too bad Covid numbers weren’t high when we played OU. Scott could have had a “legit” reason to dodge a team we only ended up losing by 7 against

You have a short memory, when the big 12 was formed OU ended the yearly rivalry didn’t want to play us every year. so yeah frost wanted out but stop the bashing OU was the first

Do some googling captain.

See which conference has the best record in bowl games over the past 10, 20, 30, 40, even 50 years.

Come back with your results.
mr amazing, we are talking about this year. stop living in the past. get with it a little

I really miss caring about this stuff. I watch fewer bowls each year that we continue to stink. Outside of the playoff, gambling is the only thing that keeps the bowls interesting. That and cheering against a few teams that are easy to dislike.

When is the SEC gonna go to 9 conference games like the rest of us?

Probably never. They want their teams to win more, be ranked higher, go to more bowls, etc. They aren’t going to give that up for a few bucks, like the B1G.

Wow, I am sure that Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State would not want to go to 8 gamrs and then play a top out of conference team each year. Why would they do that when they can play the punching bags which is the western division along with the bottom of the eastern division. The big boys of the Big 10 who makes the conference decision know what they are doing! Also they have the divisions set up so that the Eastern champs have a chump to play in the “championship “ game.

Penn State?
That could be puzzling to include Penn State but remember my response focuses on how the Big 10 is set up and their 9 game conference schedule. That is why Penn State is referenced. If I were referencing the top teams in the country Penn State would not be included.

honestly if i was an sec team id have a hard time getting excited to play in some crap bowl game against some crap big twelve team. it doesnt mean texas tech is actually better than mississippi state....there not. texas tech just wanted to be there more. cant say i blame mississippi state, going from playing huge games in the swamp, death valley, against top 10 teams, etc to playing in middle of nowhere memphis in front of hardly any fans against barely bowl eligable texas tech

It does actually mean that. They play the games to settle these things.

Losing close games = winning. Actually winning games means nothing. Says rationalizing Nebraska fan.

Wow Iowa State got an enormous gift of an INT, then couldn’t get out of their own way.

Yep. But on some planets, sometimes when you win, you really lose. And sometimes when you lose, you really win. And sometimes when you win or lose, you actually tie. And sometimes when you tie, you actually win or lose. Winning or losing is all one organic mechanism, from which one extracts what one needs.

I guess if Nebraska could have just got up for all our games this year, we'd have been undefeated.

Either that, or we were ****. One or the other.

Your premise may have merit from time to time, obviously teams don’t always show up for their bowl games.

That said, Mississippi State had a lot to play for. This game was hyped up quite a bit. Leach was having a go against his former team. He wanted this more than just a little bit. And generally, the better team, no matter how much they don’t want to play in a bowl, doesn’t lose by 30 points. That doesn’t sound like the better team.

I think in this case, the better team actually did win.

only in the b1g can a jv team like purdue go 8-4 lol
Rambo, their secondary is depleted and their Bell opted out who was the one of the two best receivers in the B1G..

I put Money on Tennessee to cover the -7…
Pickett opted out and Whipple is in Lincoln so I like Sparty over Pitt..

Tennessee by a thousand over pathetic purdue today
Purdue beat Iowa and Michigan state when they were both top 10 teams.. two loses are to top ten Ohio state and Notre dame… Tennessees best win was Kentucky but also got beat by Georgia state
Way to base your assumption on the name I guess?

Purdue seemed to have taken control of this game until O’Connell started playing Santa Claus. Two butt ugly INTs in a row.
