Damn this 2021 coaching carousel is wild, probably had to hold on to Frost out of necessity. We could have very well been left out in the cold with all the movement going on.

I don't understand why he'd leave. He's going from the team that has the easiest path to the playoffs every year, to go to a team that plays in the toughest division in college football.

Plus he still has a chance to make the playoffs this year, if a couple of teams lose Saturday. Hard to believe a coach would leave right before a potential playoff appearance.

True but the last 3 HCs, even the mediocre guys, at LSU have won natties while ND has won nothing (just blowout losses to Alabama and Clemson while trying).

Go read their board, not a total meltdown but lsu fan base is trying to convince itself this is a good hire. Kelly is a solid coach but not a kiffin, Riley, or rhule
Brian Kelly is 54-9 over the last 5 years with two playoff appearances. He's won over 250 games in his career. No idea why Kiffin or Rhule would be considered better. Riley is 55-10 the last 5 years, so on par with Kelly.

I'm shocked he's leaving Notre Dame. I guess this opens the door for Campbell to Notre Dame right?

He’s accomplished a lot more than Kiffen or Rhule.
I agree but the premise of my first statement is LSU was expecting someone big, splashy hire like kiffin because he’s drama, or even a saban to come back and finish what he started. Brian Kelly is a solid coach but definitely not a splash, kinda a waddle out to your nipples in cold water type of hire

If their fans are disappointed by this then they are idiots. This is a big time splashy of all splash hires. Hell they were talking about mel tucker or james Franklin. Instead they got one of the top 5 coaches in the sport. Lane kiffin and matt rhule arent close to kelly and a strong argument could be made kelly is better than riley. Who cares about drama? It is much better to have a coach who puts his head down and just wins games

Gotta figure LSU fans would be happier with whoever Notre Dame hires to replace Brian Kelly than Brian Kelly.
You got to be kidding. Kelly is a pretty good coach. Now that he won't be restricted by ND's entrance requirements and he will be able to cheat like the rest of the SEC I think he will do alright.

Agreed....as to LSU's 'division' I think you will see a big change once OU and Texas join SEC. Will look something like this with some sort of semifinal and championship game.

1
LSU
Texas A&M
Mississippi
Miss St

2
Alabama
Auburn
Tennessee
Vandy

3
Oklahoma
Texas
Arkansas
Missouri

4
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky

Can’t wait to see what staff goes with him.
