Or do they repeat history and hire another Cincinnati coach? How desperate is ND for a title? Can they survive the urban Meyer fallout 5 years laterWelcome to ND Coach Meyer
This is a splash hireThey are not going to be happy with that, LSU is expecting a splash
True but the last 3 HCs, even the mediocre guys, at LSU have won natties while ND has won nothing (just blowout losses to Alabama and Clemson while trying).I don't understand why he'd leave. He's going from the team that has the easiest path to the playoffs every year, to go to a team that plays in the toughest division in college football.
Plus he still has a chance to make the playoffs this year, if a couple of teams lose Saturday. Hard to believe a coach would leave right before a potential playoff appearance.
Go read their board, not a total meltdown but lsu fan base is trying to convince itself this is a good hire. Kelly is a solid coach but not a kiffin, Riley, or rhuleThis is a splash hire
Brian Kelly is 54-9 over the last 5 years with two playoff appearances. He's won over 250 games in his career. No idea why Kiffin or Rhule would be considered better. Riley is 55-10 the last 5 years, so on par with Kelly.Go read their board, not a total meltdown but lsu fan base is trying to convince itself this is a good hire. I'm shocked he's leaving Notre Dame. I guess this opens the door for Campbell to Notre Dame right?Brian Kelly is 54-9 over the last 5 years with two playoff appearances. ND was only paying Kelly $2.5 million.Ha. I can't believe the Irish dude would leave his cushy Irish gig in South Bend.
They're even more delusional than we are. We've had domers on this board over the past couple of years saying that if Kelly didn't win a nattie soon that they were going to replace him....ND was only paying Kelly $2.5 million.
I agree but the premise of my first statement is LSU was expecting someone big, splashy hire like kiffin because he’s drama, or even a saban to come back and finish what he started. Brian Kelly is a solid coach but definitely not a splash, kinda a waddle out to your nipples in cold water type of hireHe’s accomplished a lot more than Kiffen or Rhule.
And frost makes 5?? Anyone wanna post their records side by side? JesusND was only paying Kelly $2.5 million.

Now I'm not so surprised he left. I'm sure LSU at least tripled his salary. And frost makes 5?? Anyone wanna post their records side by side? Jesus
I thought ND had more money than God. Lolpeel that wallet open gold domers.
If their fans are disappointed by this then they are idiots. This is a big time splashy of all splash hires. Hell they were talking about mel tucker or james Franklin. Instead they got one of the top 5 coaches in the sport. Lane kiffin and matt rhule arent close to kelly and a strong argument could be made kelly is better than riley. Who cares about drama? It is much better to have a coach who puts his head down and just wins gamesI agree but the premise of my first statement is LSU was expecting someone big, splashy hire like kiffin because he’s drama, or even a saban to come back and finish what he started. Money. I've always heard that ND does not pay coaches the highest salary.Ha. I can't believe the Irish dude would leave his cushy Irish gig in South Bend.
They don’t like to share though.I thought ND had more money than God. Lol
You got to be kidding. Kelly is a pretty good coach. Now that he won't be restricted by ND's entrance requirements and he will be able to cheat like the rest of the SEC I think he will do alright.Gotta figure LSU fans would be happier with whoever Notre Dame hires to replace Brian Kelly than Brian Kelly.
How about Tommy Rees their OC?Wouldn't be surprised if they promote Marcus Freeman
Touchdown Jesus might not let him into Domer Heaven now!! HaThey don’t like to share though.
Agreed....as to LSU's 'division' I think you will see a big change once OU and Texas join SEC. Will look something like this with some sort of semifinal and championship game.I don't understand why he'd leave. Can’t wait to see what staff goes with him.You got to be kidding. Kelly is a pretty good coach. Now that he won't be restricted by ND's entrance requirements and he will be able to cheat like the rest of the SEC I think he will do alright.
