We all care about winning. We can care as much as the Care Bears when they touch bellies and shoot rainbow laser beams and ****, but if we are not winning, it doesn't matter who cares or how much. The FB program supports the Athletic Dept, which in turn supports the University. That is only the case at NU and a few other schools. Most places, it's vice-versa. They need their money first and foremost, because too much rides on it. Sad part is, we as a fan base, including me, have proven to NU Football that they will get their money regardless. We are 3-9, and NU football is still one of the greatest economic drivers in the state. I feel like a fool paying face for a ticket that anyone else can get for $20 in the mid 1st quarter. I, We allow ourselves to get suckered into this year after year. Some are worried they'll lose their family tix who's orginal owner died in 1990. Then they will also have to pay the exorbitant donation on top of their ticket. Others waited 10+ years on the wait list and dammit if they'd wait all those years to finally get tix just to give them up. But we create, as a fan base, a scenario where winning or losing is whatever because enough money comes in either way.
