He's 100% spot on and I think he might be sending a message to Coach Frost.

I could see blaming Riley the first couple of years.. But now SF has nobody to blame but himself now..

Next year when things go bad Frost will be like "Look, had Trev not brought me back, this would not have happened, I am not saying to blame Trev but at the same time you have to look around and see who has the final say"

Love all of it, and the "part of excuse making". Seen enough of that, glad it's the end of the line for that stuff.
It still is rough to hear all the players parrot back to the media that they're close. They're just as close to another sub-500 year if they keep doing the same stuff but that's not on them, it's on the Administration and coaches. Hopefully improvement expected from the Alberts on down can nip some of the garbage that has held the program back.

Frost's biggest mistake was not bringing in multiple qbs in year 1.
Agree. And letting Gebbia walk out the door. I’m not saying he would’ve been Marcus Mariota here, but he can throw a football and was a leader on the team.

I don't understand that.

Those offensive assistants were not Mike Riley's assistants that Frost inherited and had to deal with.

That was his hand picked staff.

He had carte blanche to hire whoever he wanted.

And those were the guys he hired. To "fix" the program.

I kind of liked frosts speech initially about the B10 adapting to us (in hind sight it was terrible). Never liked how he said the old staff sucked etc, (even if true). not a good look.

So I love what Trev said. I'm sure he talked with Frost about this as well.

People have twisted that quote into an arrogant one when really he was answering honestly. He didn’t puff out his chest and declare the Big Ten will have to adapt to him. He was saying that’s what he hopes would be the case.

Along with declaring we will compete for the division title in year 2 below is a direct quote from from frost

“I have some optimism because they had an awful culture,” he said. “They weren’t strong. They weren’t in shape. The schemes were bad last year and they still went into the fourth quarter tied with Wisconsin. They should’ve won two or three more games.

He did though. They had very little time to recruit that first class. Hard to believe he could’ve pulled a better #2 than Vedral.
But Vedral was under the impression he was going to have to sit that first year, so Frost really didn't bring in 2 that could compete for the job year one. Secondly, Vedral, Frost, Moos, the compliance group, whoever made the decision to wait until summer to ask for a hardship waiver on Vedral screwed the pooch. I am not saying Vedral would have beaten Martinez out, but he wasn't really involved in the competition all summer because they didn't think he was going to be eligible.

At this point all excuses are out the window for football and basketball. Their records have been awful. It's time to win games, period!

I'll be honest...that is a quote I have zero recollection of.

It's not something I would put past him to say though...the guy is something else.

Frost has got to be feeling the heat. Seems like Trev could be setting Scott up to fail even more. HCSF looks tired and we need to puke and rally behind him

The puking part is easy. Not sure how many will rally behind him.
This team can win 10 games next year. We need to support HCSF and Alberts seems to be tearing him down. This year was a tough schedule. We played close. Alberts needs to let HCSF coach

And the team was just one season removed from a 9 win team. It was different than UCF where he inherited a roster 2 years removed from a NY6 team and 1st RD qb.

Nah, we think you are misinterpreting. It was clear how the rest of the conference reacted to it…first with laughter, followed up by glee and laughter

Oh so now we need to ***** and moan about an AD doing exactly what a good AD should do? Tearing him down? Scott's a big boy. Good grief.......Trev is giving the guy a chance in year 5.

Like we need anymore proof to know how this is going to end. I’ll just say I’d be more than pleasantly surprised if we aren’t right back here in a year or two.

It's also quite possible that Alberts is getting sick of hearing ******** and watching this program -- one he has to be extraordinary proud of and one he bled for -- lose games in ways pee wee coaches would be embarrassed to lose them.

4 years into a staff that spent 2 years making excuses as to why the team has no fundamental base instead of building that fundamental base.

Piss poor fundamentals across the board on ST and nearly every offensive position.

With piss poor QB play never changing.

With the same mistakes made over and over and over and over.

We could have won 10 games this year. So what?

Maybe he's pissed that HE has to be the one to tell SF -- someone making 5 million a year -- HEY MAN YOUR QB COACH, YOUR OL COACH, AND YOUR RB COACHES/BUDDIES SUCK. THESE GUYS ARE GUYS YOU HIRED AND RETAINED FOR 4 YEARS. LOOK AT THE LACK OF DEVELOPMENT. THEN LOOK AT YOUR RECORD., CLEAN HOUSE OR GTFO.

Joe Burrow was one.
And after Adrian had a better 2018 than Burrow it looked like the right decision. The 2019 preseason talk about LSU was whether Burrow would hold them back from being a championship contender. Nobody saw his Heisman year coming.

That's why we should have hired Joe Brady and fired Scott.

Somebody at LSU saw something they liked.

or...year 2 really imo. I mean, if you include Vedral, he kinda did year 1 (although immediate eligibility wasn't granted until after season started).

But Year 2, all the eggs were placed in McCaffery, and the other QB's transferred...leaving nothing but Martinez.

Maybe. More likely IMO is they always have bad QBs, took a guy who looked serviceable, which is exactly what he was in 2018, then he surprised everyone by going off his senior year.
