Good man. Great position coach. But there's probably a reason in his long history of coaching that he has never been a coordinator (I don't think he has, anyway).
He was in fact offered the head coach job at Stanford but then backed out when he refused to keep his faith in the closet. Now IF he had been gay I'm sure Stanford would have been fine with that.

Asnine? Pot calling kettle black. WTF did his stance on anything have to do with this thread? Talk about asnine, you're #1 in that department.
Ummm, I was responding to someone who said that Brown's stances on abortion and gay marriage turned off lots of people in here. Try to follow along, genius. I know reading comprehension is difficult, but give it a shot. 🤪

Ummmmm, the fact that you elevated your stupidity to another level by suggesting that some should love Brown's stance on abortion just shows that you weren't bringing anything of substance to the thread, just trying to fan flames is all you were doing, bright boy.

Being dumb as dirt like you are isn't something to be proud of.

Ron Brown should have retired years ago. He's already been fired here 2 or 3 times already.

To say a coach has been fired 2 or 3 times is misleading. Ron was part of staffs who were not retained with coaching changes etc.. There is a big difference.

Hey Ron, I know that no program has thought you were coordinator material across 30 years and multiple schools, I know you quit coaching to focus on your ministry, but hey, want $500k to yolo this thing and see what happens?

Agree. I love Jesus. So does Ron Brown. So there's no malice there. But dingle brought up the point about Stanford wanting him, but that was a lifetime ago. In the years since, basically no other schools have said, hey here's a guy who's been a RB coach forever, Pelini's about to get shitcanned, lets offer him a job to get our RB room to the highest level in CFB. Not even in the Jesus loving SEC.

He's a niche hire. Partly because he has his own set of parameters he's looking to satisfy and because a prospective school has to be comfortable to do the things he wants to do. We want to throw hundreds of thousands of dollars to hire any of Bama's analysts to be coaches, but there's zero programs out there who are hoping to lure Ron Brown away from his recent career as basically lead mentor for the FB players to be a position/coordinator at a big time program.

Ron Brown understands authority and I don't for a second believe he'd try and change the offense if Scott wants to run this. He'd try and run it to the best of his ability, even though he has no real OC experience or experience with the Oregon O, but he's not going to put a ground and pound 85% I-formation run game if the HC doesn't want it.

Arguably Ron's best chance at renewed glory was a few years ago when the 90's crew rolled into town and he basically was rolled into a corner and allowed to quietly work as another poster noted. He's not anywhere near the face of the program, and he's not well publicized as he was before. If the 90's crew isn't going to make him a focal point, then no one else is going to.

The Trump supporters in here should love Brown's stance on abortion.
That position existed long before Trump became a politician. Kind of like mass corruption in DC. Apparently we were supposed to believe that the most corrupt person there was a politician the least amount of time. He was really was AMAZING if he managed that feat..

Stepp says that while Held was the reason he came to Nebraska and he really likes him, Ron Brown teaches the RBS how to escape and have better runs. Brown did coach some good ones
I'm not sure why held was fired..maybe it was guilt by association, stuck between the qb coach and oline coach...it's a mystery...I thought he did good, I liked wandel but we need backs bigger the webster,,and I did'nt care for ole flaky porno superstar wire leg washington...seems like held changed our back depth overnight, I'm a lot more impressed with johnson, yant and the usc guy. except we don't use them enough...

You are free to call it whatever you want. Retained. Fired. I don't think Ron will care whatever fans think the proper term is when he is "let go" for a 4th time next year. Nothing against the guy, but this "reclaiming the past" thing is simply not working.

I wish people would stop sidetracking my threads
I'm a creational, creedal, confessional, cessationist, covenantal, calvinist, Christian. with no problems with the 3 forms of unity or the 5 solas. so I probably make brown look like olstein in union seminary lovin hume...

if folks want to abort themselfs or take it up their keyster..whatever...there's the regenerate and degenerate, the wheat and tares, etc...BUT THATS NOT WHAT THIS HERE THREADS BOUT.

this thread is bout getting a oc that works...not one that has fancifull pass happy playbooks..but one that actually puts the ball in the endzone...one that can recruit the players to do so. and thats a guy like ron brown.

I've heard folks say we need more black coaches, like eric gangstarz benemy, or neon peon deon....when we have a real black coach like ron brown...so to me it's a no brainer. if brown is recruiting the hills of georgia or mississippi delta...the parents want to know their kid is going to a good school and not come home with a sex change and a face full of tattoos.

Pretty sure Ron Brown isn't the answer here. You're most likely going to see someone familiar with the current system.

Ron Brown is an unproven OC who is generally unfamiliar with the offense we run. Good dude for sure, but other than he's black and you think that might sell, wildly unqualified given what folks are hoping to get.
