I don't know how to take the fact that Nebraska is retaining SF. As an Iowa fan I'm sure happy to see him stay instead of bringing in someone that could build a winning program. SF may have a winning year now and then but I think he has shown no ability to coach a consistent winner. Maybe I'm wrong but don't think so. Good luck from an Iowa fan that was a Husker fan when I lived in Omaha.

I don’t think there is any chance Adrian is back now. New oc and new qb coach. May grad transfer somewhere if he decides to keep playing. With his injury history, he may just hang it up.
I hope so. Nice kid but he's just not a killer at that position and we need one. NO ONE we have played is afraid of AM.

yes, Nebraska will easily take a > $31,500,000 financial hit next year with half empty stadium.

+ Add in lower Booster donations and permanent brand damage(University encouraged fan apathy), could easily cost us way way more in present value terms.
Do you really and truly think they will only draw 40k to each game? Come on man. The newness factor of offense alone will draw over 40 to just the spring game. Maybe the streak ends but no way in hell its a half empty stadium all season

Trev pretty much comes out and says it - Frost is a trust fund baby and the athletic department is his rich daddy

None of us are concerned about how Iowa fans feel.

Alberts is a puppet only if he consents to being a puppet.

The Athletic Director has full responsibilty for all AD personnel and is delegated final say as to the employment status of any such person, including coaches. Alberts only answers to the President of UNL. Wealthy outside actors may seek to influence his decisions but in the end, it is his decision alone.

I will not deny that money/big donations have a massive influence on an AD's decision-making process. I tend to agree with you that money appears to be a key factor in the decision to retain Frost. However, Alberts was not ordered to do anything. He chose this course of action. It is his decision alone and he cannot blame someone else if it does not work out.
I think the board of regents has to approve of any hirings/firings by the A.D., he can't make the decision unilaterally.

Disagree, OP. Trev Alberts defeated Scott Frost today with the new contract. That means Frost has to produce next year or he is gone and Trev was able to save millions and millions of dollars that can now be spent on a better coaching staff after the 2022 season if Frost doesn't win.

OP, you, others and I can agree Frost should be fired, but what Trev got via the new contract, I consider that a massive win in getting Frost fired eventually (if he losses).
Exactly this.. good power play be Trev..

There's a 90s party going on in the AD and they don't want it to end. If the University doesn't care about winning why should we?
Stop being a drama queen and start trying to see a bigger picture.

Thank God Alberts is the first sane mind that realized you cant keep firing football coaches if you ever want stability at all. Thank God he didn't listen to radical fans like you. If you don't believe he cares about winning and you wonder if you should, then go find another team to go root for.

"sane mind" YOu love losers? 3-9 , 4 losing seasons in a row is now perfectly fine and acceptable at Nebraska. You are insane.

Stability you want is 3-9, 4-8 **** shows? What a complete joke you are and Trev and this **** show staff.

Many have gameplanned around him when healthy. That shows a level of “fear”. Problem is he doesn’t stay healthy all season

Trev walked into this mess four months ago. He has gone on record saying Scott did not get the support he needed . Trev also has alluded that the athletic department was dysfunctional when he arrived; guess so......some people are gone. To say Trev needs to be fired after four months is ridiculous.

Trev indicated in an interview that Scott brought him a plan....he took that plan to his bosses. I dont think Trev made the decision by himself.....Ronnie had to be involved at least. I think this was a good business decision......good stewardship of the universities money. If fans dont want to come to games next year....I am sure the athetic dept can just add more tickets to the Red Carpet program.

Trev made a decision to avoid a division in the fanbase. The people who want change basically got a new offense. The people that want to keep Frost get 1 more year and if it's the same mess then they have to accept the choice to fire him next year.

I'll roll with it, maybe it's not the right choice but no one knows the right choice. We fire him and get the same mess for the next 4 years with a new coach and people who are sick of the carousel are going to disengage.

I would prefer winning stability to losing stability. Too bad we settled on the latter for our home boy.

I think scheming for a kids abilities is different from fearing him. It’s more so a
Combination of how the players react as well as how coaches view an opposing player. The players across from AM have zero…ZERO fear of him. Which is totally appropriate, a defense could be in the worst set possible for what we call on offense and there’s a decent chance AM just screws it up on his own in the many ways he’s shown us he does. This leads to defenses just pinning their ears back on every play.

in this era of huge buyouts, thats a significant buy down.
i dont know numbers in the ath dept, but this has to be a much better pill to swallow if he can't get to a bowl next year.
plus, you can tell the next guy - 'we were fair, he got 5 years...and a check'.
